Recently, a video appeared on social networks recording the bride procession at a traditional Chinese wedding, attracting the attention of many netizens.
Accordingly, a Vietnamese girl living in China had the opportunity to attend an acquaintance's wedding. However, the owner of the clip shares that this bridal procession ceremony is quite unique because it takes place at midnight, completely different from other weddings she has attended.
Before the bride's car arrived, the groom's family members distributed sweets, peanuts and some fruit into plates full of even numbers, implying a good consummation. When the clock strikes 12 o'clock at night, the bride's carriage arrives downstairs, at which point the groom must personally carry the bride inside. However, because the groom suddenly dislocated his waist, he had to borrow a chair for the bride to sit on and then carry him into the house without letting the bride's feet touch the ground.
The strange thing is that the groom's parents - that is, the husband's parents - are not allowed to appear during the ceremony. Although he was quite sad because he couldn't see the moment his son got married, the groom's father still consoled himself because this was a happy day for his son. It is known that this ceremony is arranged by the bride's family. The bride's family went to see feng shui and spent nearly a hundred million to find a good day and time for the wedding procession. In addition, the feng shui master also looks at the ages of the guests and only those who are "approved" can attend the wedding procession.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom are led into the bedroom by the adults in the house, called the wedding ceremony. At the end of these rituals, the groom's parents are allowed to enter the house to receive a cup of tea from their daughter-in-law, completing all necessary procedures for the pre-wedding ceremony.
Below the video, many people could not help but admire the thoroughness of the bride's family in performing the marriage ceremony. At the same time, people also praise the groom's family for respecting every decision of the bride's family. Some people expressed that maybe because the ages of the bride and groom are not compatible, they have to hold the wedding procession at midnight and avoid meeting the husband's parents until the ceremony is over.
- In Vietnam, some places also have the custom of picking up brides at midnight
- It turns out that the groom's family really respects the bride's family, nowadays it's rare for anyone to do strange rituals like this
- It sounds so exciting, but I think it's probably because of their age that they didn't have the wedding ceremony as usual
- Weddings are really complicated, it's true that China looks very carefully at these feng shui and age issues.
Many people believe that marriage is an important thing that determines a person's entire life. That's why they are willing to perform many rituals just to hope their marriage goes smoothly. However, there are also many cases where things are overdone and considered superstitious and old-fashioned.
Accordingly, in addition to picking up the bride at night, there has been a long-standing belief that if the bride is pregnant, when she returns to her husband's house, she is not allowed to enter through the main door but must go around to the back door to enter.
In case the house does not have a back door, the bride will have to step through a pot of roasted locust with charcoal to ward off bad luck. They believe that if a pregnant bride goes to her husband's house through the front door, the groom's family will not be able to do well in the future.
Talking about this concept, Mr. Vu The Khanh, General Director of the Union of Applied Informatics Science and Technology (UIA), said that not everyone follows this concept, but only some families, regions, and regions. . This is just a folk concept, they set it up to teach girls to take care before getting married, not to "eat before their husband". As for the spiritual meaning to ward off bad luck and bad luck, a pregnant bride must enter through the back door before the wedding procession, must walk through fire... it has no meaning. There is also no way that a pregnant bride entering through the main door will bring bad luck, causing her husband's family to fail in business or encounter drought or bad luck. The fact that the bride has to go through the back door is like having to go through the back door when a cheater has to go through the back door.
In the past, getting pregnant before marriage was still considered rare and was frowned upon, but today, the lifestyle is more open. Even today, many families still require pregnant women to hold wedding ceremonies to prevent infertility. The taboo on the wedding day is also a traditional wedding culture of Vietnamese people. Popular traditional cultural things such as choosing an auspicious day and month to get married for convenience should still be maintained. As for unfounded notions, people should not believe too much as they will affect wedding preparations and future married life.
However, Dr. Vu The Khanh also said that, in terms of law, there is no provision prohibiting young people from having sex with each other before marriage, but in terms of social ethics, they should not "eat before marriage". This sometimes brings misfortune to the girl herself.
According to psychological experts, taboos that are unreasonable with the times and superstitions should not be blindly followed. Usually, if parents are easy-going and love their daughter-in-law, their children will also be close, loving, and attentive in their future lives... But doing difficult things not only affects peace but also upsets the family. To avoid the above taboo problems, if you happen to get pregnant before the wedding, the two parties can hold a wedding at a restaurant, then the couple will take each other home without having to pick up the bride or groom.
