Receiving a series of "unbelievably ugly" wedding photos, the bride Hong Hanh decided to recreate the entire wedding ceremony, organize a true "remarriage", invite friends to witness just to record the dreamlike moment.
As a doctoral student working in China, Hong Hanh (31 years old, from Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong) has spent half a year preparing for her dream wedding. Every decorative accessory, every small detail in the wedding was hand-selected and ordered from China to be transferred to Vietnam. She also ordered six sets of wedding dresses and ao dai separately, preparing up to 15 traditional trays. The wedding was held at a private house with a total cost of nearly 200 million VND.
However, all that meticulous preparation effort was quickly overshadowed when she received nearly 2,000 wedding photos from the photography crew on July 13. Instead of feeling joyful, Hanh only felt disappointed and disappointed. The photos are sloppily processed, the composition is messy, the expressions of the bride and groom are not captured at the right moment, and even the lighting is not guaranteed. "I put a lot of enthusiasm into this wedding, every step was meticulous, until I received the photos back like a bucket of cold water poured directly on the big day," she shared.
After reflecting to the crew and being refunded the cost, instead of complaining, Hanh made a surprise decision: reorganize the wedding ceremony space and ask to take photos again with another photography group on July 26. She didn't want to keep that bug photo as a lifelong memory. This decision initially made the family worried that she would be challenged to "get married for a second time", but fortunately, her husband supported her unconditionally.
With the support of a new photography team, the wedding center lent the lobby for free, the couple and their close friends "remade" a set of beautiful and shimmering wedding photos. Only about 10 close friends were invited to witness this emotional "wedding reenactment" ceremony. Hanh still reused the six wedding dresses and ao dai that he had prepared earlier, but this time, everything was prepared more carefully: from the lighting, the pose, the camera angle, the emotions and even the harmony between the bride and groom.
In this simulated ceremony, the couple still performs a full range of rituals such as reading vows, pouring wine and exchanging rings in front of friends. Although it is no longer a "real" moment, the emotions they express are still intact. The cost for this reshoot is not small, but Hanh thinks that it is a worthy price to get the photo as expected.
From July 31, Hanh began to share each new wedding photo on social networks. The photos quickly attracted attention with hundreds of likes, congratulatory comments from friends, relatives and even strangers. She said that she has received many words of encouragement right from the moment she shared her disappointment about the old photo.
Many people advise her to ignore the image, because the important thing is the marriage life ahead. However, Hanh still decided to do it again, because according to her, wedding photos are not only images to show off online but also a way to preserve memories, a moment that will follow her for life. "Photos are my way of capturing emotions, attachment, and every important moment. It is impossible to let the wedding day pass without beautiful photos," she affirmed.
After all, Hong Hanh realized a great lesson from her own experience. She thinks that every bride wants her wedding day to be perfect, but to do that, it takes a clear plan and a reasonable allocation of time and budget for all items. "I focus too much on dresses and decorations, but I am subjective in choosing photographers. The result is a 'second version wedding'. But it also helped me understand the true value of photographs: it's not just a product, it's a memory that stays with time," she says. Although she has been married twice, Hong Hanh believes that beautiful memories are the most precious thing in life.
