Lying in treatment at Bach Mai Hospital, Mr. D.Q.T (42 years old) is still in shock recalling the moment he saved his life when holding his son to jump from the 3rd floor to escape a fire at a mini apartment in Khuong Ha, where his family lives on the evening of September 12.
The fire that occurred late on September 12 at a 9-storey mini apartment in the alley of 29 Khuong Ha Street (Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi) has caused many people to feel sorry. After nearly 1 day since the terrible fire, many people are still shocked because the fire caused many casualties, heavy damage to people and property.
According to an update from the fire at Khuong Ha Street (Khuong Dinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi City), 56 people died and 37 were injured, including 29 students. This is a particularly serious fire, causing heavy damage to people and property.
Hugging his child in the monitoring room at the Paediatric Center (Bach Mai Hospital), Mr. D.Q.T. (42) is still in shock after escaping the fire last night.
Mr. T. said that around 11 a.m. last night, because the emergency balcony was still open, when he saw smoke, his family immediately discovered that there was a fire.
"I rushed to the 1st floor with everyone fighting the fire, but the smoke was so much, everyone rushed up. I hurriedly told the 2 older children, a 9-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, to run to the 9th floor rooftop to avoid the smoke.
My wife and I, with our 27-month-old daughter, stayed in our room, pulled out all the blankets, pulled the curtains soaked in water, sealed the slits in the doors to keep out the smoke, and tried to twist the rope to make the rope swing down.
From the 3rd floor of the emergency exit, I saw the 2nd floor house with a corrugated iron roof, and immediately threw the blanket on the corrugated iron roof to jump down. I carried my 27-month-old baby and jumped down first, slipped the blanket, and broke my arm. The wife who jumped after broke her leg was in the emergency room in Blue Pôn," Mr. T. said.
"Luckily, the 2 of them are lying here peacefully now, but I'm on fire because I don't have my 9-year-old daughter's information. Ask my brother, and he said it was crowded and chaotic, so he didn't see me," Mr. T. added.
A representative of the Pediatric Center said that Mr. T.'s two children are now stable, and the 27-year-old has a soft injury but is not worrisome.
Some children are unaccompanied, cared for by medical staff.
Ms. H. - the victim in the mini apartment fire said that her family was very lucky when all 4 members of the family escaped.
"In the middle of the night we heard the fire alarm, so my wife and I ran to the 1st floor, but we saw smoke and congestion and couldn't get out, so we went back to the 8th floor. At this point, my husband dragged the children along with a few neighbors into the house, closing the door.
The smoke was unbearable, so we went to the closet to hide, and at the same time called for rescue. Then hearing the rescue call, we ran to the corridor, were rescued by rescuers and taken to the emergency hospital," Ms H said.
Located at the Emergency Center, Bach Mai Hospital, patient B.Q.M. (born in 1994) from Hai Duong is on oxygen after the emergency. M. and his brother have been renting at this apartment for more than 1 year. When the fire broke out, M.'s apartment was on the 4th floor, M. jumped from the 4th floor.
