Tue Minh: Vietnamese actress stars in a "blockbuster" with Hwang Jungmin and Jung Hae In

Tue Minh is an actress who attracted attention when she participated in the movie "I bet you can handcuff me" with the 'box office king' Hwang Jung Min and handsome Jung Hae In. In the movie, Tue Minh plays the role of a Vietnamese girl who moves to Korea to live.

"I, The Executioner" (original English title: I, The Executioner) is part II of the blockbuster Veteran released in 2015. After the success of part I, the filmmakers decided to continue with part 2 with new details and upgraded action scenes. As soon as it was released, the film created a fever in its home country of Korea, achieving many impressive achievements.

Notably, the film features a Vietnamese actress: Tue Minh in the role of a Vietnamese woman who moves to Korea to live. Thanks to her sharp beauty and natural acting skills, Tue Minh surpassed many candidates to stand on the same stage with veteran Korean actors. Although only a supporting role, Tue Minh's role is the key to helping the police track down the culprit, solving a series of shocking cases.

Sharing about the opportunity to play this role, Tue Minh said: "I unexpectedly received an invitation from a casting company for foreign film projects in Vietnam. They were looking for an actress to play the role of a Vietnamese girl living in Korea. I hesitated whether to participate in the casting or not because I realized that my face was not Vietnamese enough to take on this role. But then I thought: Let's try the casting to see how people in Korea work. I went to the casting with a relaxed mood because I thought I would fail. Unexpectedly, I passed 3 rounds to be selected."

Because she is a key character who helps solve the problem in the film, Tue Minh appears quite a lot and has scenes that require high acting skills. In particular, most of her scenes have interactions with the two main actors, Hwang Jung Min and Jung Hae In, on set. Therefore, Tue Minh has the opportunity to observe and learn from the talented Korean cast.

"Before acting together, I thought they were famous Korean stars so there would be certain standards of contact, I would have to keep a distance. But when I met them, I realized that my worries were meaningless because they were very cute and enthusiastic. Uncle Hwang Jung-min is very humorous, always proactive in talking and interacting with me. He also said he wanted to receive an invitation to come to Vietnam to cooperate again. And Mr. Jung Hae-in is like a brother next door, always gentle, polite and smiling" - Tue Minh shared.

Referring to the "acting space" in the Korean blockbuster, Tue Minh confided: "The definition of 'acting space' will be different for each person, some people think about the issue of screen time, some people think about the plot aspect. I lean more towards the plot issue, my character is a supporting character in the film so the screen time is definitely not much but there are scenes for the main characters to deal with their key issues. Therefore, I think my acting space in this film is quite full and complete".

Not only impressed by the professionalism of the foreign stars, Tue Minh was also touched by the care and respect that the crew showed her. Because they had to film in snowy conditions, the weather was extremely harsh, which a tropical girl like Tue Minh could not adapt to, the Korean crew very thoughtfully equipped her with warm clothes, heat pads and heating bags on set. The logistics team also prepared a separate tent for Tue Minh to rest while waiting for her scene.

"Before going to Korea, I told myself that I was a newcomer, so I just quietly observed to learn, did my job well and didn't bother anyone. But when working with everyone, I received thoughtful attention. In the last scene of the film, I had to hold an uncomfortable position for a long time. The crew and director Ryoo Seung-wan kept asking me if I was uncomfortable and if I wanted to rest a bit. That concern made me feel warm" - Tue Minh recalled.

The 9X beauty revealed that during the filming process, she went to Korea twice in February and March 2023. "My difficulty was probably the weather because this was the first time I was in such a cold environment. During the filming, I watched the weather forecast and it was only about minus 2 - 3 degrees or 4 - 5 degrees, which made my face freeze. I was very afraid that that state would make my face stiff and unable to act, so I had to try everything to stretch my facial muscles and warm up my face to perform the scene better. Luckily, I overcame that and the director was satisfied with my acting," she said.

Although only appearing in supporting roles, the participation of Vietnamese actors in a film project entirely produced by Korea is a positive sign showing that foreign filmmakers are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market and audience.

Tue Minh studied at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. Tue Minh was once in the top 6 of the 2021 Cinema Faces program. In addition to acting, Tue Minh is also a yoga instructor. The actress skillfully maintains her toned body thanks to yoga and the gym.

Before having the opportunity to go abroad, Tue Minh participated in several TV drama projects in the South such as: "Wish we could fly together", "Shadow of the city", "Under the shadow of peace"... which were known to the audience. Participating in Korean films, Tue Minh's acting has improved, surely in the near future she will be noticed by many directors.
