Sun Wukong in "Journey to the West" can be considered omnipotent with 72 divine powers, each of which caused a great uproar in the heavenly palace. The only person who could subdue this disciple of Tang Tang was the Tathagata Buddha.
"Journey to the West" is one of the four great masterpieces, through narrating vivid stories in the process of overcoming 81 lives of four Tang Tang teachers and students, to describe the process of cultivation gradually eliminating attachments and upholding the realm. At the same time, it expresses the morality of the immutable law of the universe "Good and evil have rewards".
Sun Wukong in "Journey to the West" is described as a character who is not afraid of Heaven and Earth, and can make a great uproar in the heavenly palace, causing harm to the Buddha Ancestor of the Heavenly Palace; Below can be a great uproar in the underworld, wiping out life and deat.h. And only the Tathagata was able to cure Tang Tang's first disciple.
Many sources say that Sun Wukong was not only wary of the power of the Tathagata Buddha, but also very afraid of the small buns of hair on his head. So what do these buns symbolize?
In the "Vajrayana Sutra" there is a description of the Buddha as follows: "If you see generals who are not generals, you can see the Tathagata. Use color to see that the Tathagata is a heresy." However, "Journey to the West" is a TV series, so it is not allowed to use qi to show the Tathagata Buddha, so there is a Tathagata Buddha Ancestor like on TV. There are three theories about the origin of the buns on his head.
First, the Tathagata is called Shakyamuni. Mani means jewel. In China, Shakyamuni represents a fruit that is abundant in the tropics, also known as the Buddha's head (na) fruit, the things that grow on the skin of the naa fruit and the bun of hair on the Buddha's head are all similar.
Secondly, it is said that the race of Shakyamuni is Shakya, who was born with curly hair, so the bun of hair on the head of the Tathagata is curly one by one. The final theory according to some scriptures is that the buns of hair on the head of the Tathagata are actually "hustle" (bon.e meat, some books say buns of meat) formed by the protruding bones on the head, shaped like a bun. Only those who have profound Dharma have it.
Artisans including sculptors and painters who carve and paint statues or images of the Buddha rely on the 32 great generals described in the Sutras. One of the 32 great generals that the Buddha had was curly hair.
According to Indian anthropology, curly hair is a symbol of intelligent people. Therefore, when carving statues, or painting pictures of him, the general and curly hair in the shape of a snail are prominently depicted, making people feel as if only monks shave their hair, but Buddha does not.
Surely when Sun Wukong knew what the buns on the Tathagata's head meant, he was extremely scared, and after all, this thing was not an ordinary Buddha's. In addition, the original spirit of the Great Saint Qi Heaven was born from the chaos of the universe, so he was also a saint fairy, but the fairy world was still very far away from the Tathagata Buddha Ancestor.
Notably, in the world of "Journey to the West", there are many fairies with very beneficial bravery, but there are 3 people that Sun Wukong respects more than the Buddha Ancestor of the Tathagata. They are the Bodhisattva Guanyin, Le Son Lao Mau and the Western King Mother.
In the 42nd chapter of Journey to the West, "The Great Saint kindly prays for the Bodhisattva / Guanyin charity to bind the Red Chil.d", tells the story of Wukong who came to ask the Bodhisattva to conquer the Red Chil.d. When he saw the Bodhisattva angry in the South Sea, Sun Wukong didn't dare to say many more words. Of course, the bodhisattva is not angry like we ordinary people, but it is a clear psychological expression of good and evil.
The Bodhisattva said, "If it is already the Three Flame Legs, a generous god, why did he go looking for the Dragon King and not come to find me?" Sun Wukong said, "The disciple originally wanted to invite the Bodhisattva, but the disciple was already smoked and couldn't ride the clouds, but the disciple sent the Eight Precepts to invite the Bodhisattva to invite the Bodhisattva."
The Bodhisattva said, "Wu Nang has never come to me." The meditator said, "That's true. Before he reached Baoshan, he was tricked into the cave by the goblin who turned into a bodhisattva and now he is hangin.g in a leather bag, and he is about to be eaten."
When the Bodhisattva heard this, he sternly said, "That grim daring to turn into me," and then poured the water in peace into the sea, threatening Sun Wukong to stand up in a panic, so he had to stand up and wait silently. On the way to exorcise demons, Sun Wukong did not dare to go up in front of the Bodhisattva. This is the act of reverence of the Great Saint and also an expression of the majesty of the Dharma.
Le Son Lao Mau - a character who is probably still quite strange to many people, at the same time as Nu Oa Nuong. Even Guanyin Bodhisattva and many other high-caliber figures when they saw her, they all had to call her seniors, leaning respectfully.
In episode 8 of Journey to the West, after escaping from the golden rat of the Buddha Ancestor, the three Tang Tang teachers and students continued on their way. On the way to three accidents, there was a scene where four Bodhisattvas transformed into four mothers and daughters and widows to test the hearts of Tang Sang's teachers and students and punish the Eight Precepts for being entangled in the world.
In which, Le Son Lao Mau transformed into a mother, Guan The Yin Bodhisattva transformed into the eldest Chan Chan, Pho Hien Bodhisattva is the second Ai, and Linh Cat Bodhisattva is the third Lien Lien.
About the Western Mother Mother (also known as Yaochi Golden Mother, Western King Golden Mother, Wang Mother Niangniang or Golden Mother Yuanjun) is a very famous ancient goddess in Chinese Taoist legend. This is a special character who sits on the Yuan Xiao Palace, standing behind the peach table meeting with the power that makes the Jade Emperor of God also endure a few parts.
She lives in the west of the Kunlun Mountains, so she is called Xiwang Mau. Vuong Mo Niang has an extremely high status in Taoism, after a long historical process, folk religions believe that she possesses the ability to help people live immortally, behind Vuong Mau's garden planted a fairy peach garden, eating young forever without getting old.
In Wang Mo's hand, there is also the holy relic "Dao Table" associated with the birth and deat.h of the Fairy Realm. Every year, she organizes the Ban Dao Festival, which rewards the fairies in heaven. Therefore, it is natural for Sun Wukong to respect Wang Mo.
