That is Nguyen Thanh Thai (born in 1994) - a teacher of cultural subjects for grade 3 at Trung Vuong Primary School, Uong Bi city, Quang Ninh province.

He shared with us: "To me, being a teacher is always a very noble profession. Every day at school is a happy day. Moreover, I got to teach at a school near my home after passing the civil service exam, and I live in my hometown, so my living expenses don't cost too much. I've been on the payroll for 4 years now, and my salary is more stable. Therefore, I'm very satisfied with my current job."

A career that sounds quite smooth! However, Thanh Thai said "there is no path full of roses", to have the so-called peace as present, he has worked hard and tried for a long time.

"I started dreaming of becoming a teacher since primary school. I don't know how to describe it, but seeing the image of teachers standing in class, imparting knowledge to students made me admire them. However, at that time, I also had to struggle a lot to pass the Primary Education exam because the standard score was quite high. During my studies, I had to be multi-talented, also learning singing, painting... all of them. After graduating, I taught on a 1-year contract and did military service according to the quota of the Department of Education.

When I was about to leave the army, I took advantage of my time to study everywhere and anytime to review for the civil service exam. When I started teaching, I was not as relaxed as many people thought. Especially for primary school teachers - they have a very different characteristic from teachers at the high school level, which is that they are trained to teach many different subjects, and are considered 'general teachers'.

If you are a homeroom teacher, you have to take on more responsibility. In previous years, I was a homeroom teacher for grade 5. In addition to teaching in class, I also had to manage and make sure the boarding students ate and slept on time. I still had to train the students in cultural, artistic, and sports activities of the class and school. A day as a teacher in Nguyen Thanh Thai's hometown starts at 6am. He wakes up, does personal hygiene and has breakfast, then drives to the school 500m from his house to teach. Thanh Thai teaches cultural subjects such as Math, Vietnamese, Social Sciences... After work, he often spends time playing sports such as jogging and volleyball to stay healthy.

Thanh Thai also tried his hand at online sales, worked as a wedding MC, and modeled on his days off to earn extra income. On his personal TikTok page, he shared a clip recording the moment he helped his mother clean up the environment in 2020, attracting more than 1.5 million views.

Currently, Thanh Thai’s mother is 50 years old and still works as a worker at an urban environmental company. If he has free time, he still helps his mother cut grass and trim trees in the green park.
