Recently, the story of "fighting" cancer of baby Bap (Minh Hai, 4 years old) and his mother - Le Thi Thu Hoa (27 years old, from Ninh Thuan) has received much attention.
In particular, this case received help from famous names on social networks such as Pham Thoai, Hang Du Muc, Mailisa,... along with the entire online community, so it received even more attention. However, before being known and helped by everyone, Bap and her mother had to go through a long and difficult journey.
In 2021, when Thu Hoa was only 24 years old and her son was 3 months old, she decided to leave her marriage. At first, she worked as a restaurant accountant and sold vegetables to earn money to raise her child. After that, Hoa sent baby Bap to her grandparents and stayed in the city alone to work.
In mid-2023, when Bap was 2 years old, his grandmother discovered signs in him such as loss of appetite, swollen lymph nodes, and bloating. At that time, Thu Hoa hurriedly returned to her hometown to take her child to the city for a medical examination. After several months of treatment and transfer to many different departments, in November 2023, the doctor announced that Bap had leukemia.
From then until October 2024, Thu Hoa had to stay by her child's side to take care of her child, so she could not continue her old job. But at the same time, she still had to worry about hospital fees and living expenses for the mother and child, so she decided to create a video channel to sell products online. During the day, Hoa still took care of her child, and at night she livestreamed. Sometimes the young mother sat in the hallway, sometimes she sat in the aisle in the hospital grounds.
One day, Pham Thoai happened to see Bap's mother's livestream, and seeing that it was midnight and she was still selling goods, he decided to go to the hospital to find out and support her. In mid-June 2024, Pham Thoai announced that he would accompany Bap and his mother during the boy's treatment.
According to Pham Thoai, the cost of treatment is very high, so Bap's mother does everything she can, from selling goods outside, shipping goods for hire, borrowing money everywhere, wandering around begging for money, etc. To support Bap and her mother, Pham Thoai instructed her to livestream to sell goods because she could not rely on the help of benefactors forever. Thoai herself also pledged to help Bap with hospital fees when needed, whether the number is 200, 300 or 500 million.
At the end of October 2024, Bap's health was stable and he was ready to be discharged from the hospital after a year of treatment. But just a few days later, Bap's condition suddenly worsened and he had to start over. At this time, Pham Thoai urgently lent Bap's mother 800 million VND to be hospitalized again and have dialysis.
However, the situation did not stop there. To increase Bap's chances of survival, a bone marrow transplant was required, with an estimated cost of 4-8 billion VND, performed abroad. This figure was too large for Bap's mother and family, so Pham Thoai called for everyone's help. By noon on November 6, Pham Thoai updated that the amount of money the community had donated to Bap had reached more than 6 billion VND.
According to the original plan, Thu Hoa wanted to take her child to China, but close to the departure date, Bap's health condition did not allow for a long-distance trip. Therefore, she and everyone decided to change direction to Singapore. Pham Thoai, Bap and his mother arrived in Singapore and took Bap to the hospital for an initial check-up.
In addition to Pham Thoai, many celebrities on social media and netizens have also sent money and called for help for Bap's mother and son. On October 28, Hang Du Muc posted a photo of himself visiting Bap's mother and hoped that everyone would join hands to help this case: "I just hope that the community will join hands and not leave behind situations like this so that every child has the opportunity to live and pursue their dreams." Previously, at the end of July, Hang Du Muc donated 100 million VND to the mother and son for medical treatment.
Recently, "my boss" Mailisa also announced that she had transferred 100 million VND to Bap's mother's account. The businesswoman said that she had been busy with work recently so she did not know about Bap's case, but when she livestreamed, she was tagged by many netizens asking for help. After researching, Mailisa learned about Bap's story, she immediately contributed a part with everyone to send to Bap's mother.
The "beauty mogul" also confided that Bap's incident made her happy and proud of the spirit of mutual love of Vietnamese people, especially young people who have influence on social networks.
