"Office eater" was once a famous phenomenon, what now after the scandal?

Although she no longer has the same charm as before, Tieu Da still persists in producing cooking videos in the office with her colleagues. She once earned hundreds of billions thanks to cooking videos in the office, after the incident that forced her to retire, what now?

Grilling meat with an iron, making crepes (pancakes) with a computer processor or grilling spicy skewers in an electric kettle are content that created a craze among young people 7 years ago. The creativity when cooking at the office of Ms Yeah (Tieu Da, born 1994, from Sichuan, China) still lingers in the memories of many young Vietnamese people, especially the 9X generation.

After the success of her unique cooking video series, Tieu Da suddenly encountered an incident in her career and chose to "stay hidden" for a while. Up to now, many people have become curious about her current life.

Two years after the boycott incident, the name Tieu Da "returned" on social networks with her decision to get married. When Tieu Da showed off a series of photos of her looking fresh and happy in her wedding dress, many fans congratulated her for gradually overcoming the shock of the past.

Tieu Da hid her husband's face and never showed his face clearly, but the sweet moments and gentle interactions she showed off implicitly confirmed that Tieu Da is happy.

She also returned to video production and remained steadfast in the quick cooking segment at work. However, those who have followed Tieu Da for many years immediately realized that her cheerful, youthful and witty energy is no longer the same as before. Perhaps the obsession with the scandal 5 years ago still makes Tieu Da not completely comfortable, she always emphasizes warnings in her videos.

Tieu Da develops many social networking platforms, from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram to post videos, with the participation and enthusiastic support from colleagues. Since the past 2 years, Tieu Da has no longer posted videos that are several tens of minutes long. Each long video only has a few hundred thousand views, too modest compared to her name.

On a YouTube account with nearly 14 million registrations, Tieu Da completely switched to producing short-form videos, only about 1-2 minutes and with a fairly stable number of views. Mostly these short videos attract from 1 million to 8 million views.

Tieu Da's Facebook account with 5.1 million followers is also where she diligently updates short videos. The number of views on Facebook seems to be less positive than on YouTube, likes and comment interactions are also quite modest. The Instagram account with the green tick of the "holy eater" is probably the least attractive, with only 280,000 followers, although Tieu Da still regularly posts videos on the channel.

Currently, the only way Tieu Da's cooking videos can attract about 1-2 million views is by posting them as shorts (YouTube's short video feature of about 60 seconds or less). Therefore, the content is often cut short to fit modern trends and less authentic than before. Tieu Da's use of unique utensils for cooking also gradually decreased.

Many people believe that it is understandable that Tieu Da's appeal is no longer maintained when there are so many creators creating similar content competing. With the development of social networking platforms, young people also have more choices in viewing content for entertainment after stressful working hours.

Back in 2017, the name Ms Yeah was famous globally with a series of videos that always reached millions of views. She is mentioned in many famous newspapers as "office chef" or "Chinese internet phenomenon".

Responding to SCMP , Tieu Da said that sponsors lined up with the desire to advertise their products in videos at that time. Her company charged 500,000 yuan (about 1.7 billion VND) to introduce the product in a cooking video. Accordingly, many experts have estimated that Tieu Da can earn hundreds of billions of dong in just a short time.

However, success did not stick with Tieu Da for long. An unexpected incident occurred, causing the "office eater" to decline, unable to regain its former glory.
