Ta Quang Thang: owner of the hit Flag, pursuing the Country Rock genre, bringing Vietnamese identity into the music

Ta Quang Thang (SN 1988) is known as a talented young male singer/songwriter. With a unique way of composing music and a warm voice, the male singer quickly received the attention and love of many fans.

Ta Quang Thang is currently one of the few people who pursue Country Rock music in Vietnam. His name is associated with a series of famous compositions such as Flag, Live Like Flowers, Love Song, Write Love Song, Star in the Night, Laugh... In which Flag and Live Like Flowers are the two most popular songs.

The male singer's musical style is said to be somewhat unique and separate - both bringing the breakthrough of the Rock music genre and imbued with Vietnamese identity. "My crew and I always want to reach the pinnacle of world contemporary music, but we still don't forget the melodies and soul of the Vietnamese nation," Ta Quang Thang once shared.

In 2012, Ta Quang Thang released his first album called "Country Rock", the album brought Ta Quang Thang's name back with the songs he composed himself. The audience was really impressed by the image of a friendly, simple Ta Quang Thang with a stylish and powerful voice.

Referring to Ta Quang Thang, the audience cannot help but mention the famous song - The flag he once composed and performed. Pursuing Country rock music for nearly 10 years, Ta Quang Thang created his own path, attracting music-loving audiences. His compositions not only have interesting music but also spread, praising the beauty of the homeland and the country.

The song has won various awards such as Song Award of the fourth quarter of Viet Song program 2010; 2010 Creative Experiment Award; Award voted by Vietnam Musicians Association 2010; Award of Vietnam Youth Union 2010; Second prize in the song-writing campaign of the Central Youth Union 2011... In addition, the song "Star in the Night" also won the Impression Prize of the environmental composing campaign m Vang Xanh 2011.

Ta Quang Thang also participated in other programs such as ASEAN POP SONGS 2012 and was nominated for Music Contribution Award 2013 and 2015 in 2 categories: Musician of the Year & Album of the Year. Besides, the male singer-songwriter is also loved by actively participating in social activities such as the Red Journey Ambassador program for 4 consecutive years (from 2013 - 2015), being the 2015 Earth Hour Ambassador and 2016.

At the beginning of 2022, Ta Quang Thang continued to release the album In the Middle of Life, bringing the typical tunes of Country rock. Each song is like a slice of the author's own reflection on life. All are told by Ta Quang Thang closely through simple lyrics and rustic melodies.

Each song subtly expresses the male singer's experiences during his years of composing. With Thang's Diary, he brings the listener into a flashback from when he was a boy with many dreams to adulthood. In Going to love Vietnam more, the singer sings about the beautiful scenes of the country, incorporating the names of famous places such as Ha Long, Hue, Hoi An...

The dream of a lonely person has an acoustic sound, is the heart of a boy about the girl he loves, when she only "hurries to come in a few seconds, hurry away like a rain shadow". Afraid of the rain to close the album with words of encouragement for optimism even though life is still difficult.

Making the album during the Covid-19 period, Ta Quang Thang's crew encountered many difficulties, especially in the post-production stage. The singer said that there were songs when the epidemic broke out when he finished recording, he had to wait after the gap ended to complete the mastering stage. As a result, CD execution time is three times longer than usual.

Post-production is usually done by Ta Quang Thang and his team to minimize the interference of machines, in order to keep the sophistication in the way the music plays and the emotions of the players. In particular, in the streaming era, the male singer still releases CD albums to commemorate his musical journey. He believes that printing and releasing albums in physical format not only brings the meaning of distributing his works to the public who want to listen to real music, but also a gift, a memento for later.

Ta Quang Thang said that at the present time, he has enough experience, abundant energy, creativity and desire to create his own unique musical style, bearing his own mark.
