A video circulating on social media claims that students at Luong The Vinh Primary School were "kicked out into the sun" for not attending the school's half-day program. Leaders of Ben Cat ward have confirmed that this information is false.
On March 26th, a video clip accompanied by comments caused a stir on social media, alleging that students not attending the boarding program at Luong The Vinh Primary School (Ben Cat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) were forced to stand outside in the sun. The person who filmed the clip stated: "Children not attending the boarding program were kicked out of the school to stand in the sun. There are shady trees inside the school, but they weren't allowed to stand there." The clip was quickly shared widely, attracting many negative comments from the online community.
Following this information, the leaders of Ben Cat Ward People's Committee clarified the situation, affirming that the information circulating on social media was inaccurate. In reality, the incident stemmed from the fact that approximately 200 students at the school had not registered for the school lunch program. When school ended, the students were picked up by their parents. While waiting for their parents, the school arranged several shaded areas for the students to stand in, but because the students were young and often ran around, many went into the sunny areas.
The leader of the Ben Cat Ward People's Committee emphasized: "There is absolutely no truth to the claim that the school expelled students to stand outside in the sun for not registering for the boarding program. The boarding program is entirely aimed at creating favorable conditions for parents. Depending on their individual needs and circumstances, parents can register their children for the boarding program or not."
The People's Committee of the ward also noted that if parents find any aspects of the school's organization unreasonable, they should provide feedback directly to the school for consideration and timely adjustment. Conversely, posting unverified information on social media can easily lead to misunderstandings and inaccurate interpretations about the school.
To address the issue, the leaders of Ben Cat Ward People's Committee instructed that the parents who had complained be invited to a meeting. At the same time, the ward police were also requested to verify and handle the case in accordance with the law, ensuring that the matter is clarified and handled transparently.
Luong The Vinh Primary School is one of the primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City with many students enrolled in the boarding program, aiming to provide greater convenience for parents in their work schedules. According to the school, boarding is not mandatory; parents have the right to choose whether their children stay at the boarding facility or go home. Students who are not enrolled in the boarding program can still attend school as usual and will be cared for and supervised while waiting for their parents to pick them up.
Speaking to the press, a parent whose child attends the school said: "My children don't eat lunch at school. When school is over, they usually want to play outside for a while before their parents come to pick them up. I see that the school always cares and arranges a shady place for the children to stand. There's absolutely no question of chasing them out into the sun as the video circulating suggests."
The images in the clip only reflect moments when students were outdoors in the sun running and jumping, not because of a school requirement. The leaders of Ben Cat Ward People's Committee also emphasized that this needs to be understood in the correct context to avoid misunderstandings and damage to the school's reputation.
Following this incident, the Ben Cat Ward People's Committee once again recommends that parents, when having opinions or questions, should discuss them directly with the school or management agency for clarification, instead of sharing unverified content on social media. This also aims to protect the rights and safety of students and avoid undesirable consequences from misinformation.
