The final round of Sing! Asia 2025 ended with the victory belonging to the Japanese representative with a score of 411 points. The runner-up position was awarded to Chu Phi Ca (China) with 407.6 points. The representative of Vietnam - Phuong My Chi - finished in third place with 406.8 points, only 0.8 points behind the second place.
According to the program's rules, only the two contestants with the highest scores will enter the live competition round to choose the champion. Therefore, the gap of less than one point prevented Phuong My Chi from participating in the final round to decide the highest position, to the regret of many viewers.
The moment Phuong My Chi was not named in the top 2 left the entire studio stunned. Not only the fans present on stage but also the artists and judges could not hide their surprise. Singer Miyuna looked confused and shocked, as if she was upset on Phuong My Chiâs behalf.
Meanwhile, Hoang Linh - who once accompanied My Chi in a performance - was silent, speechless at the surprising result. Judge Truong Luong Dinh, when announcing the scores, also appeared confused.
Even the runner-up who was rumored to have a grudge against Phuong My Chi nodded and was convinced by the performance of the Vietnamese representative in the final night.
These reactions were immediately noted and widely shared by the online community, becoming a hot topic on social networks. Notably, To Huu Bang - a judge who had publicly supported My Chi from the beginning of the competition, somewhat "ignored" the Vietnamese representative during the announcement as if he knew the result in advance.
After the finale officially aired on the morning of July 27, the image of Phuong My Chi shedding tears backstage quickly spread. Many viewers expressed sympathy and concern for the young singer's feelings, saying that she could not hide her regret at missing the opportunity to compete directly because of a very close score.
When contacted by reporters, Phuong My Chi's representative refused to make a statement: "Currently, we would like to not give any response." However, on her personal page, Phuong My Chi shared emotional stories about her journey at the continental playground. The singer born in 2003 said that from the time of filming the final episode until now, she is still overwhelmed by the intense emotions she has experienced.
"I feel like I have a lot of loving 'family'. Before or after performing, I always think of the audience - the people who have been looking forward to each of my performances and watching with pride. When I have such quality 'family', I feel like I am not at a disadvantage in the international arena," Phuong My Chi shared. The moment that moved her the most was when she looked down at the stands and saw Vietnamese audiences holding up the red flag with a yellow star and cheering banners. The female singer confided: "I really only dared to look a few times because I was afraid I would cry on stage with this affection and honor. I never thought that one day I would compete abroad and hear Vietnamese people shouting in Vietnamese 'Phuong My Chi, keep going'. It's really unforgettable, everyone."
Despite not winning the chance to compete for the championship, Phuong My Chi affirmed that she has absolutely no regrets. "What else can I do but continue to work hard. I think I have tried my best. If the audience feels proud after watching my two performances, I have nothing to regret," the singer wrote.
In the final night, Phuong My Chi performed two pieces: "Lac troi" (duet with Hoang Linh - representative of China) and "Chopsticks". Both pieces were carefully invested in both audio and visual aspects, integrating Vietnamese cultural characteristics in a youthful, modern performance style, in line with the spirit of integration that the competition is aiming for. With "Lac troi", Phuong My Chi created a highlight when combining traditional musical instruments, folk materials and a characteristic sweet voice. Meanwhile, the performance "Chopsticks" impressed with its profound ideas about family ties, Asian culture and humanity.
After the show aired, both of My Chi's performances were quickly searched for and spread widely on social media. As of the evening of July 27, "Chopsticks" had reached nearly 900,000 views, while "Lac troi" had attracted about 500,000 views. Many viewers left comments expressing their pride in how Phuong My Chi had brought the image of Vietnamese people to international friends. Comments such as "really satisfying", "full of Vietnamese character", "lost points but won hearts" appeared frequently on social media platforms.
Despite finishing in third place, Phuong My Chi still left a strong impression on the public. With her stable performance, professional attitude and progressive spirit, the 22-year-old girl has proven her appeal not only in Vietnam but also on a continental level. Many people believe that this is just the beginning of her journey to reach further in the future. And who knows, today's regretful 0.8 points will become a great motivation for Phuong My Chi to shine more strongly in the next milestones of her career.
Su Huu Bang was shocked when he saw Phuong My Chi doing this to the crew. Hoàng Phúc10:39:16 19/07/2025Notably, on stage, Phuong My Chi unexpectedly made an action that made To Huu Bang and the contestants admire. Specifically, she was the only contestant to thank the musicians.
