Movie Ma Da cuts scene of Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and Cam Ly, insiders are upset

Producer Nhat Trung apologized to Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and Cam Ly for cutting many of their valuable scenes in the movie "Ma da" - a horror film that is currently ranked number 1 at the Vietnamese box office, and is still a controversial topic with audiences.

On the evening of August 17, artist Thanh Loc spoke out regarding the controversy over the fact that he and Cam Ly had most of their time cut from Ma da. The male artist clearly showed his refusal to accept the apology from the film crew. At the film premiere on August 14, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and singer Cam Ly were both absent.

"I don't regret the effort, I just regret the time wasted. So I don't spend time listening to and receiving late apologies. I'd rather spend that time on other better relationships," artist Thanh Loc shared.

The male artist spoke up after director Nhat Trung posted an article explaining why the movie Ma da cut most of the scenes of Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and singer Cam Ly. According to the producer's representative, after filming, they cut many lengthy segments to ensure the movie had the appropriate length when released in theaters.

"During post-production, the crew removed many scenes that you and your partner spent a lot of effort to complete. Throughout the filming process, the two artists cooperated and helped the film crew. We will always remember those favors in our hearts. I apologize to you very much," director Nhat Trung shared.

The male director took responsibility and apologized to artists Thanh Loc, Cam Ly and the audience on behalf of the film crew. The crew admitted their mistake for not notifying in writing that Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc and singer Cam Ly had their appearance time cut in Ma da.

Before the scandal broke out, the producer introduced Ma da as having special appearances by singer Cam Ly and Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc. The crew spent a lot of effort to get the two artists to agree to participate. Artist Thanh Loc and singer Cam Ly also had their own posters, which were grand and heavily promoted by the media.

At the press conference to launch the film, the crew continued to mention singer Cam Ly. The representative of the production said it was not easy to invite singer Cam Ly and Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc. Thanh Loc, 63 years old, comes from a family with a tradition of art: his father is People's Artist Thanh Ton, his mother is opera artist Huynh Mai, his brother Bach Long, his sister Bach Le are all famous cai luong artists. He is known through a series of plays Da co hoai lang, Cau dong, Ngoi nha khong co dan ong, Hop dong man thu, Tam Cam. The artist also appeared in small roles in movies, such as Mui ngo gai, Chang trai nam ay, Tam Cam chuyen chua ke, and was a judge on Vietnam Got's Talent 2012.

Singer Cam Ly, 54 years old, gained attention when she sang with Dan Truong in the album "Neu hoat pha ngay mai" in the early 2000s. She gradually became famous with songs by Nguyen Nhat Huy: "Nguoi ve cuoi pho", "Bo ben la", "Thuong nho nguoi dang". Cam Ly was the first singer to perform free live shows for students in 2003 and 2004. She also recorded many albums of folk and lyrical music and was successful with the series of live shows "Tu tinh que huong". She and musician Minh Vy got married in 2004 and have two daughters.
