On the evening of February 27, the producer of Chot Don announced the new release date of the project in June. The sudden postponement of the film's release date has attracted attention. Before that, the crew held a press conference to announce the project and planned to release it on March 7.
According to the producer's representative, the film is in post-production so the release date has to be postponed. Bao Nhan and Nam Cito shared: "The new release date has been finalized. The crew will see the audience again at cinemas nationwide on June 20."
Previously, Thuy Tien revealed that she had to go through many auditions before receiving the director's nod for the character Hoang Linh. She expressed her happiness when she received support from artist Quyen Linh when participating in this project. According to the crew, as soon as he saw Miss Grand Vietnam 2021, the male artist confirmed to the director duo that "this is the character we are looking for".
The film revolves around the lives of Hoang Linh (a young livestream warrior) and Mr. An (an office worker and technology car driver). The changes and pressures of society have made two people who seem to be opposites in ag.e and circumstances find a pure friendship, creating new passions.
After the postponement of the schedule, the Vietnamese film race on the occasion of March 8th has only Ghost in the Palace left. The project is in the horror genre, from Nhat Trung. The film has the participation of Quang Tuan, Kha Nhu, Phu Don, Van Dung. The work has been shown in several other countries, before being officially released in the Vietnamese market.
The film is inspired by a true story and a horror legend about the dead coming back to life. In a highland village, a couple Quang (Quang Tuan) and Nhu (Kha Nhu) make a living by burial. Their peaceful life is disturbed when they discover an ownerless coffin on their land. From here, strange phenomena begin to occur and haunt the whole village.
In addition to Quang Tuan and Kha Nhu, the film marks the return of artist Phu Don after the work Tet in Hell Village. He plays the role of the village chief, who tells the main character about the phenomenon of "ghost possession", and at the same time holds many secrets of ancient burial rituals.
The film, directed by Pom Nguyen, was filmed in many remote locations, isolated in the forest in Lam Dong. Producer Nhat Trung said that the film faced many challenges due to the weather. On the day of filming, the crew encountered a storm, and the whole crew braved the wind and rain to film. The highland pine forest scene became a swamp after a series of rainy days, and the crew hired a tractor to help the actors move between filming locations. Quang Tuan said that he and Kha Nhu had to film many scenes lasting 10 hours in low temperatures.
Before its domestic release on March 7, the film was released in the US, Taiwan, Australia, and South Korea in the second half of February. After Ma da - a Vietnamese horror film that was a record hit with a revenue of 127 billion VND, Nhat Trung said he wanted to make a series of films revolving around the five elements: Metal - Wood - Water - Fire - Earth. Ma da is inspired by the Water element, while Quy nhap trang has the Metal element.
Another Vietnamese film to be released in March is a music documentary project celebrating singer Hoang Thuy Linhâs 13th year of singing called Vietnamese concert film: We are Vietnamese people. The documentary is scheduled to be released on March 14.
In the first two months of the first quarter, the domestic film market was bustling with many works from major directors and producers. The Four Guardians (Tran Thanh) is currently the project leading in revenue with 331 billion VND. Thu Trang's work - Nu hon bac bien recorded 208 billion VND. Two Vietnamese films that surpassed the hundred billion mark are Den am hon (Hoang Nam) and Nha gia tien (Huynh Lap).
The fact that four Vietnamese films have consecutively surpassed the 100 billion VND mark is unprecedented in the history of domestic cinema, according to Mr. Nguyen Khanh Duong - founder of Box Office Vietnam.
