Talking about the first days of coming to Cai Luong theater, Meritorious Artist Truong Son confided: "When I was a child, my house lived right at Cau Quan communal house. I slowly got acquainted with the profession from the smallest tasks like buying ice to help the aunts and uncles in the troupe. Many times I hid behind the scenes listening to my father play the drums, watching the aunts and uncles perform, my love of theater grew up in me from an early age. that time".

For more than half a century in the singing profession, Meritorious Artist Truong Son has made his mark through many unique roles. Whether in the main or supporting role, Meritorious Artist Truong Son shows the depth of his character. Meritorious Artist Truong Son said that he is most afraid of repetition, so he always tries to create unique features for each character shown. He spent a lot of time preparing for the role, from movements to singing.

He said, every time he takes on a new dual role, he tries to "erase" the entire image of the previous role to begin researching the character's personality, circumstances, background... He opened the drawers of memories and experiences to select the appropriate details and colors, thereby sketching a portrait for the new character. When learning carefully about the character, he continued to bring it to life by emphasizing the lyrics, dialogue, laughter, and dance movements so that the character's soul was clearly expressed. Because of that sophistication, Meritorious Artist Truong Son's roles are always remembered by the audience, many of his roles are considered standards.

Because he acted so well, he was often hated by the audience, but to him that was no big deal. Because, if the performance is standard and ecstatic, then the audience will "absorb" all the evil, poison, and hatefulness of the character, and for an artist, that is success.

"For an artist, the most important thing is to do well in his role, whether main or supporting, whether gentle or evil. The more a double role is hated by the audience, the more successful it will be. The more the audience hates the character, the more successful it is. The longer I miss myself," Meritorious Artist Truong Son shared. For that reason, he has a habit of constantly listening to see how much he is "hated" by the audience every time he plays a double role as a measure of the success of the role.

Meritorious Artist Truong Son started coming to Cai Luong at the age of 10 and since then he has lived and worked hard. The more he loved his job, the more he felt sad when Cai Luong art gradually lost its unique position in the hearts of audiences. As the internet becomes more and more developed and television programs become more and more diverse, preserving ancient opera is not easy. When his children decided to follow in their father's footsteps, he could not hide his concern, but he never stopped them, because he knew that doing so would be a mistake for his ancestors. "My grandparents gave me a profession, and now they let my children continue on that path. If I stop them, I will be very guilty. I just teach my children to live their lives to the fullest with their profession while they can. One time, Watching my daughter perform on a stage with a sparse audience, I shed tears," Meritorious Artist Truong Son confided.

Up to now, his children and his wife, artist Thanh Loan, have all become famous artists of the cai luong stage, admired by the audience. When Cai Luong no longer had the same appeal as before, he always accompanied his children to encourage, teach and pass on experience. When his two grandchildren came to Cai Luong, he was very happy and enthusiastically guided them.
