At the age of 70, experiencing many ups and downs in life, the man realized the invisible power of pink to bring small positive things to his life. That's why he boldly covered the house he was living in pink.

Located on Mai Van Ngoc Street (Ward 10, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City), is a small house with an area of less than 60m2. Not massive or magnificent, but this place makes many passersby linger and look, because the house is covered in a striking pink color.

The owner of this pink house is Mr. Phan Van Chanh (born 1955) - an office worker who retired a few years ago.

Mr. Phan Van Chanh started dyeing his house pink during the Covid epidemic in 2021, when he had free time due to social distancing.

Previously, he was a clerical officer in a state agency and has since retired. After his mother and only son passed away, he lived alone.

"I have loved pink for a long time. I often wear this color's clothes and furniture. Once I saw online that there was a house painted purple so I wanted to do the same," Mr. Chanh said.

Thinking of doing it, he started "dying" his house pink from the outside walls to the interior, the furniture inside and then even the facade of the house was painted pink entirely.

The front wall of the house is decorated by hanging many potted plants and flowers. These ornamental flowers are grown in recycled plastic bottles and jars painted in the same color tone as the house.

Mr. Chanh also covered nearly 20m of the fence next to the railway line opposite his house with hundreds of flower pots painted in eye-catching pink.

Inside the house, Mr. Chanh painted many walls pink. Personal items, household appliances, and electronics such as electric clocks, fans, air conditioners, lampshades... were also painted pink by him.

Mr. Chanh reserved the space at the end of the house to make a small garden. The flower pots, bonsai tubs, and decorative items here are also painted and painted pink.

Mr. Chanh shared : "Many years ago, my son passed away, and not long after, my mother also passed away. I raised my grandchild. A few years ago, she left with her husband, and since then I have lived alone here.

I have gone through so many unhappy things, the sadness of losing loved ones, so I want to choose this bright color for my house, because other colors will probably look gloomy. Even though many people are against it, I still love pink."

It turns out that behind that loving and optimistic action is an extremely lonely and lonely heart of a man in his 70s. However, he does not think that everything is deadlocked or suffering, he seeks to change his own perspective on life. Not only can you embrace yourself, but you can also create a strong influence on those around you.

After forming a small garden in the house with pink painted plant pots, Mr. Chanh thought of creating a green area for the front of the house. Because there was no space to grow plants, he decided to take advantage of old plastic bottles and jars to make plant pots and hang them on the wall in front of the house.

He also painted these plant pots pink to match the color of the house. Later, every time he took care of the "tree wall", Mr. Chanh would see messy garbage bags hanging on the fence protecting the train tracks opposite his house.

Not only did Mr. Chanh decorate his house, he also "dyed" the fence blocking the train tracks in front of his house. Mr. Chanh said that seeing that people have a habit of hanging trash on the railway fence, he is determined to refurbish the fence to reduce waste.

Thanks to this project, he was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of Phu Nhuan District People's Committee for the household and residential group that won third prize in the "Green Street Corner - Green Space" contest in Phu Nhuan District.

The life of the man passionate about pink begins at a quarter to 4:00 when he gets up to water the plants. Water all the plants in front of the house and inside the house for about an hour. Then he went for coffee with some friends. On weekends, I take my racket to play tennis. He has maintained his interest in playing this sport since his youth. Up to now, in his house, he also has a collection of dozens of old tennis rackets.
