Distracted motorcyclist, the delivery man struck the rear of a Porsche car. This shipper then had to kneel, begging the owner. At the same time, he asked nearby residents to extract the camera in hopes of reducing the compensation.
On August 14, a clip of the incident on Le Hong Phong Street (Ward 10, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City) is becoming the focus of discussion on social media.
In the clip, the male shipper is seen kneeling next to a Porsche car, flanked by a crashed motorcycle. The car was struck with a patch on its tail, scratching the exterior. The delivery youth repeatedly punched his hands on the ground blaming himself, holding his face and crying helplessly because the owner demanded large amounts of compensation. A large number of passers-by surrounded the scene, and at the end of the clip, a police comrade appeared.
According to the owner of the clip, N.M.T. said the crash happened on the evening of Aug. 11. According to Mr. T., a witness who was present at the time of the incident, the male shipper's motorcycle struck the rear of the luxury car. The car owner and his family in the car were quite angry, demanding compensation of 200 million because this is a car they recently bought.
Specifically, at the time of the incident, the male shipper and the driver of a Porsche car were traveling on the aforementioned stretch of road. At this time, the car is in the right lane, the motorcycle is behind.
Suddenly, the motorcycle struck the rear of the car due to the vehicle in front of the brakes without the male shipper noticing. Hearing the collision, the car driver and his family got off the car to check.
"The family in the car was quite angry because this was the car they had just bought. As soon as they got off the car, they asked the shipper for 200 million VND," Mr. T. said.
The large amount of money made the male shipper extremely worried, constantly kneeling down begging. The owner of the car then called law enforcement down to assist and document the incident. Both sides went to the Ward 10 People's Committee headquarters together to work.
"I heard the owner say he could negotiate a discount on the cost of repairs for the male shipper. After 45 minutes of processing, they went to the ward People's Committee headquarters together to work," Mr. T. said.
The incident was recorded by Mr. T. on his phone and posted on social media. According to Mr. T., he himself feels sorry for the male shipper, but it is clear that this person needs to pay more attention when operating on the street.
It is known that nearly 2 days after the accident, the male shipper returned to the house of Mr. Quang - the owner of the phone shop right before the road where the incident occurred to ask for the camera extraction. However, the camera here is obscured by the banner, so it cannot record the incident.
"My friend came to me yesterday (August 14) and confirmed there was a motorcyclist in the back who hit me hard. But the camera around this area was not visible, so I hope there is a dashcam of any car in circulation to vindicate him. Since the accident the owner has not contacted his shipper friend," the 42-year-old said.
According to Mr. Quang, in the evening, the Porsche owner and the shipper agreed to settle with each other.
"At that time, you had about 12-13 million in your account and 2-3 million in cash, so you gave it to the owner. They temporarily accepted the money and kept their ID, and took her number to stay connected. The two sides reconciled themselves and then left," Quang said.
Upon arriving at Mr. Quang's house, the male delivery man showed him a photo of the dented and disfigured motorbike. At the time of the incident, the male shipper did not report back to the Porsche owner due to being stubborn, not calm enough to handle it. So Mr. Quang posted information on social networks, if any driver has a dashcam can extract it.
Sharing about the situation of the young shipper, Mr. Quang said that this person's family is quite difficult, being the main breadwinner to raise his wife and children.
"Maybe she lost ten million, so she also regretted it, wanted to go back and find the vindication camera. But no one has provided camera footage since I posted it.
Her situation was also bad, the delivery work was hard and difficult. If possible, I would also like to support you somewhat," Quang said.
The clip posted on social media attracted hundreds of thousands of interactions. Many people also expressed sympathy for the delivery man, and also frustrated about many shippers running recklessly, despite the traffic.
"It's a shame, but I'm scared of shippers out on the street now. They drive almost without looking at the road, always keeping their eyes on their phones," the T.T.I. account wrote.
"Every time I stopped at a red light in front of the shippers, I had to dodge them so they would run the lights or they would honk their horns," account A. reflected.
In this view, the H.V. account argues, poverty cannot be used to justify wrongdoing. "Whether the owner of the car is rich or not, the shipper is still responsible for causing an accident. Because money is not easy to earn, everyone is sorry for their assets," the account commented.
