Van Tung: Vietnamese guy "conquers" LCK, streamer to Korean Esports advisor

Vietnamese League of Legends fans are no strangers to the name Van Tung. From a guy who loves games to one of the leading commentators in the Vietnamese League of Legends community.

Van Tung was born in 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City. Ever since he was a chil.d, he has had a strong passion for video games. However, not everyone knows that before joining League of Legends, he tried his hand at many different games. It was not until 2013, when League of Legends began to attract strong attention in Vietnam, that Van Tung really got involved with this game.

“When I first played League of Legends, I felt like I was entering a new world,” he recalls. “It was the perfect combination of individual skill and team strategy.” This passion eventually developed into a desire to pursue a career in esports, a decision he has never regretted despite the numerous challenges he faced later on.

After graduating from Foreign Trade University with a Bachelor of Economics, Van Tung faced a difficult choice: should he continue pursuing his major, or boldly enter the world of esports that he is passionate about?

His family, especially his parents, initially opposed this decision, because they thought this path was unstable and lacked prospects. Finances were also a big problem, as in the early days Van Tung could only work for free, learning and developing his commentary skills. The pressure from the esports audience sometimes also made him feel exhausted.

However, it was his perseverance and desire to contribute that helped Van Tung overcome everything. He started participating in League of Legends tournaments in Vietnam and impressed with his lively and enthusiastic commentary style. The turning point came in 2018, when he was selected as an official commentator at VCS (VCSA League of Legends Tournament), one of the leading tournaments in the Vietnamese League of Legends community. This was a stepping stone to help him affirm his name and receive recognition from both the community and his colleagues.

In 2019, Van Tung joined GAM Esports as an analyst, marking an important step forward in his career. Under the guidance of coach Tinikun, Van Tung not only learned from experts but also contributed significantly to the team's VCS championship victory.

While working with the team, he honed his tactical thinking and developed his professional knowledge, and learned a lot from the professional esports environment. However, with the desire to return to the role of commentator and streamer, Van Tung decided to leave GAM and return to the profession of commentator in 2020. This change helped him expand his influence and build a strong fan community on online platforms.

One of the important milestones in Van Tung's career was joining BOX Studio, where he started commentating matches at LCK - the prestigious League of Legends tournament in Korea. This was a breakthrough not only in his career but also affirmed his remarkable development.

Van Tung's commentary style quickly won the hearts of fans. He is not only a transmitter of information but also a companion, bringing intense emotions to the audience. The ability to combine professional knowledge and engaging communication makes him one of the most beloved commentators in the international esports community.

In addition to his commentary work, Van Tung has also built a large fan community on streaming platforms and YouTube. Quality content and good interaction with viewers have helped him maintain a stable number of followers.

In addition, Van Tung also became a tactical advisor for Fredit BRION, a team in the LCK. This is an opportunity for him to demonstrate his in-depth knowledge and top-notch tactical consulting ability, while affirming his position in the international esports industry.

Besides his impressive career, Van Tung's love life has also received no less attention. He and MC Mai Dora, a prominent figure in the Vietnamese gaming community, have had a beautiful love story that has lasted since SEA Games 31. Their relationship attracted attention when Van Tung proposed to Mai Dora at the final of VCS Hung Dong 2023 and ended with a happy wedding on October 30, 2023.

However, like any prominent figure in the esports world, Van Tung has not lacked "drama" with fans of famous stars like Peanut and Chovy. However, he always maintains an objective analytical style and straightforwardness in his work. It is his professionalism and courage that have helped him face and overcome all challenges from public opinion.

With his tireless contributions to the esports industry, Van Tung is currently one of the leading commentators of Vietnamese League of Legends. His perseverance and dedication to the profession have helped him affirm his position not only domestically but also in the international arena.
