Although many days have passed, the whereabouts of tourist Nguyen Quoc Manh - who was reported missing while visiting Cuc Phuong forest, have not been found. Nearby, people only discovered a strange line of writing, suspected to be left by the male tourist.
Over the past few days, the news of a male tourist going missing while visiting Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh) has attracted special attention from the public. The incident has not only worried the victimâs family and friends, but also raised concerns in the tourism community.
The male tourist was identified as Nguyen Quoc Manh (born in 1992, from Hai Phong). According to initial information, on August 13, Manh went to Bong area of Cuc Phuong National Park and rented a room for the night.
On August 14, he left his room, visited the thousand-year-old acacia tree line - a famous destination of the garden, then stopped by Son Cung cave.
It is noteworthy that all of Manh's belongings, luggage and backpack were found right at the cave entrance. Since the last time he saw Manh, the male tourist has been completely missing. Manh's disappearance was quickly reported to the rangers and the National Park Management Board. On the night of August 14, a large-scale search was launched in the hope of finding Manh's whereabouts soon.
During the inspection, the rangers discovered a remarkable detail. These were lines of writing carved on the cliffs deep inside Son Cung Cave. The content was unclear numbers and characters such as "34 HD, TM 2025, HANG". Many people explained the meaning of this line as "34 Hai Duong, Thanh Mien, 2025, Hang". According to initial assessment, this strange line of writing was suspected to be left by Manh. However, officials of the National Park said that they could not confirm with certainty whether this writing belonged to the missing male tourist or not.
Mr. Dinh Van Xuan, a member of a search team, shared: "Our team, led by Mr. Dung, a forest ranger, in coordination with Mr. Bao, the brother of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Manh, searched the waterfall area about 2-3km from Son Cung cave. When we saw the inscriptions on the stone, we assumed that Mr. Manh might have tried to find a way out but got lost."
Realizing the complexity of the case, the leadership of Cuc Phuong National Park mobilized a large force to carry out a plan to track down the male tourist. About 86 people, including forest rangers, Ninh Binh provincial police, local militia, medical staff and the victim's family members participated in the search campaign. In particular, 7 sniffer dogs were also deployed to assist in finding traces.
The search area is not only limited to Cuc Phuong forest but also expanded to Thanh Hoa and Phu Tho (former Hoa Binh) due to the terrain characteristics connecting the provinces.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions and prolonged heavy rains making it difficult to move through the forest, the rescue team still persevered. The representative of the National Park said that the biggest goal is to quickly find the whereabouts of the male tourist, because the longer it takes, the higher the risk of safety for the victim.
The mysterious disappearance of Nguyen Quoc Manh has left his family, especially his brother - who directly participated in the search - extremely bewildered. Over the past 5 days and 4 nights, anxiety has increased as there have been no new clues.
On social media, public opinion is also particularly concerned about the disappearance of this male tourist. On tourism forums, many people expressed sympathy for the male touristâs situation and hoped that the authorities would soon find him safe. Some opinions also raised questions about safety regulations when tourists visit primeval forests, where the terrain is rugged and easy to get lost.
According to experts, Cuc Phuong forest has a large area, a complex system of caves and waterfalls. In rainy conditions, the trails become slippery and dangerous. In addition, the forest also has rocky areas and deep ravines that are difficult to access.
Therefore, the search requires not only close coordination between forces but also the support of specialized equipment. The deployment of sniffer dogs is considered an important solution, but the effectiveness still depends on the weather and field conditions.
In fact, there have been many cases of tourists going missing while visiting the primeval forests in Vietnam. Most of the reasons stem from traveling alone, without a tour guide, or getting lost in bad weather conditions.
The case of Nguyen Quoc Manh once again raises the alarm about forest tourism safety. Experts recommend that visitors strictly follow the regulations of the National Park, do not go deep into the forest or cave without a companion, and always carry communication devices, flashlights, and spare items.
To date, although there have been no further clear signs, rescue forces are still persistently searching. The family and society are hopeful that Mr. Manh will be found safe. The incident is being actively monitored and updated by the authorities of Ninh Binh province and Cuc Phuong National Park.
