More than 220 billion VND has been transferred to Cuba , a trend that has taken social media by storm, making everyone want to participate, share widely and not be able to miss this phenomenon that is driving the whole community crazy.
In recent days, when surfing Facebook, it is not difficult to come across posts with initially confusing content: "Charging fanpage/group operation fee, 10,000/year" with account number and transfer instructions. Many Facebook users initially thought this was an illegal form of collecting money, but in fact, this is how many fanpages and community groups call for support for the program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba friendship".
It is worth noting that these types of posts appear not only on general fanpages but also in many specialized groups: from travel reviews, sports enthusiasts like pickleball, freelance job search groups, to cosplay communities. The content of the posts all emphasize donations to support the Cuban people, demonstrating the special connection between the two nations.
This movement quickly received strong support from the online community. Many people shared pictures of the transfer, confirming their support, and many people, even though they had transferred money before, were still willing to contribute more when they saw the "fee" information. Data recorded as of the morning of August 16 showed that after only three days of launching, the total amount of money transferred by Vietnamese people to support the Cuban people had exceeded 220 billion VND, three times the minimum target of the program.
This program is organized by the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee in coordination with relevant units, officially launched from August 13, 2025, lasting for 65 days, until October 16, 2025. The main goal is to mobilize resources to help the Cuban people overcome difficulties, while fostering the long-standing special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba. The support focuses on medical supplies, necessities and sustainable development cooperation areas, to reduce difficulties caused by the impact of epidemics, natural disasters and prolonged embargo policies.
This is a humanitarian activity of profound significance, reflecting the spirit of international solidarity, as well as the loyal affection of the Vietnamese people for the Cuban people. The program is also an opportunity to express gratitude for the noble acts that Cuba has given to Vietnam during difficult times, and at the same time, demonstrate the sympathy and sharing of the Vietnamese people in the context of humanity facing many global challenges.
The strong spread of the movement also recorded the active participation of many artists and celebrities. Famous faces in the Vietnamese entertainment industry not only transferred money to support but also called on fans to participate, creating a strong spreading effect. In particular, singers Hoa Minzy, Duc Phuc and football player Quang Hai each donated 50 million VND. In addition, many other artists such as Tang Duy Tan, Vo Ha Tram, Minh Tu also participated, and at the same time shared information with the fan community.
The positive response from the public shows that the spirit of sharing and compassion of the Vietnamese people is not only limited to the country but also extends to the world. Many netizens shared that they were happy to contribute to supporting the Cuban people, while experiencing the feeling of "charging fanpage fees" which is not only a trend but also has a humane meaning. Many community groups also organize livestreams to call for direct contributions, updating the amount of support in real time, making the campaign more transparent and attractive.
In addition to mobilizing material resources, the movement also created a strong spiritual effect. Posts, images, and videos about the Vietnam-Cuba relationship spread on social networks have promoted awareness of the value of international friendship, while encouraging solidarity and sharing among community members. To date, the program "65 years of Vietnam-Cuba friendship" has become a typical example of a movement to call for community support on social networks, combining humane traditions and the power of modern technology. The use of fanpages and online groups to mobilize resources, share information transparently, and create a ripple effect has helped the amount of money raised exceed expectations, while raising community awareness of the value of friendship.
