According to press information, the People's Court of Region 2 (former Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) has announced the acceptance of the case of dispute over determining paternity between the plaintiff Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan (singer Jack-J97) and the defendant Tran Nguyen Thien An (27 years old, residing in Hiep Binh ward).
On June 30, 2025, the People's Court of Region 2 - Ho Chi Minh City received the case file according to the decision to transfer the case of the People's Court of Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province (now the People's Court of Region 16 - Ho Chi Minh City).
In the petition dated March 28, 2025, Mr. Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan requested the court to resolve the following issues: Determining that child TYÄ. is his biological child. The People's Court of Region 2 - Ho Chi Minh City based on Article 196 and Article 199 of the Criminal Procedure Code to notify the People's Procuracy of Region 2 - Ho Chi Minh City and the parties.
The People's Court of Region 2 - Ho Chi Minh City also notified the defendant that within 15 days from the date of receipt of this notice, it must submit to the court a written statement of its opinion on the plaintiff's request and accompanying documents, evidence, and counterclaim (if any).
In case an extension is required, a request for extension must be submitted to the court stating the reasons for consideration. If the notified person fails to submit his/her written opinion to the court within this time limit, the court will base on the documents and evidence in the file to resolve the case in accordance with the provisions of law.
Previously, the plaintiff filed a lawsuit with the People's Court of Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province (now the People's Court of Region 16, Ho Chi Minh City). In the lawsuit, the plaintiff provided that Thien An's residence was in Lai Thieu Ward, Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province (now Lai Thieu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
However, when the court verified, Ms. An did not register for permanent or temporary residence and did not live at the address provided by Mr. Tuan. Therefore, the court notified Mr. Tuan to provide information and legal basis to prove Ms. An's current residence so that the court could carry out the proceedings, but Mr. Tuan could not provide it.
On June 9, Thuan An City People's Court received a request from Ms. An to review and resolve the above case, thereby determining that Ms. An is living in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City (now Hiep Binh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
After verification at the Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward Police Station (old), the court determined that Ms. An was actually residing in this ward. Therefore, the case was transferred to the People's Court of Region 2, Ho Chi Minh City for settlement according to its jurisdiction.
