Minkook: Former Zero9 member once accused his manager of sexual harassment, now he's changed so much it's hard to recognize him

Minkook is known as a former member of the boy band Zero9. Most of the audience is impressed with the male singer's outstanding pink hair, but his ability is the most obscure in the group.

Minkook's real name is Nguyen Quoc Minh, born on June 29, 1999 from Dong Nai and spent 6 months in Zero9. Besides him, the group has 6 other members: KayZ (captain), Alan, JBin, Win (Ho Minh Tuan), Leo and Eden.

Before Zero9 officially debuted in March 2018, two members, Mike and Roy, left for unknown reasons, and were replaced by none other than Minkook. In the group, the singer from Dong Nai took on the role of lead vocalist - dancer. Although he is quite young, with his handsome face and signature pink hair, he has a large fan base.

Debuting with a lineup of 7 people, contrary to the expectations of musician Tang Nhat Tue as well as Zero9 members, the debut MV POM instead of creating a fever in VPop received countless negative reactions from the public. The boys were labeled as "disaster", "stupid music", "HKT version 2018"...

Not stopping there, the controversy in the music-loving community exploded even more when a member of Zero9 boldly declared: "The group pursues the same hip hop music and direction as NCT, but is always equated with BTS". However, the logo of the 7 boys resembles EXO.

After an unsuccessful debut, Zero9 quickly regained the audience's affection with the song Pinocchio - considered the group's best. Next, "pet" Tang Nhat Tue continued to release "Why", "Joker"... but did not create much buzz.

Besides the controversial music and style, Zero9 also stunned with the confidence of its members on television. Typically, when participating in a game show, the 7 boys had a self-introduction that made the audience feel bored, many people even compared it to a broken market.

It was thought that the 7-member lineup would "close the deal" for Zero9, but no, each member left one by one for various reasons, and the new person who came to replace them also stopped playing quite early. In August 2018, Minkook suddenly left the company without a clear reason even though he had only been active for 6 short months, making everyone curious.

At this time, some people doubted the reason why the young singer had to leave the group because his role was quite obscure. Until February 2019, Minkook appeared on the show Hidden Face on VTV and opened up about his past obsessions. Accordingly, he said he was from Dong Nai, 20 years old and had been active in the entertainment industry for less than 1 year.

While a second-year student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, he won the lead role in a movie. Unfortunately, the production was discontinued, but he met a sponsor and joined a music group.

"When my group debuted, the company aimed to create scandals to get the public's attention. Our products were all intentionally similar to someone else and the audience could easily tell that they were imitations," Minkook introduced his group.

Notably, the young male singer did not hesitate to "excavate" the fact that he was "harassed" by his "manager" and that he exchanged sex for fame. "One afternoon, they asked me to talk. They gave me two choices, one was 'I will take you to the top but you have to love me, you have to be mine'. Two, you will no longer be anything," he said.

When he refused the offer from the "manager", Minkook had to suffer very bad consequences. Initially, the male singer was made difficult at work: "When I refused, they showed me the consequences. At that time, I was preparing to participate in a game show, when the show was about to take place, they gave me the condition 'can you sleep here with me tonight?'. I refused them again and the next day, my recording was canceled".

It is worth mentioning that Minkook was not only oppressed by the "manager" and limited in communication with the outside world, but also "physically impacted", and was eventually fired and required to pay 20 million VND in compensation, even banned from artistic activities for 3 years even though the fault was not his.

Specifically, the manager of the group Zero9 affirmed that the former member left not because of being solicited or "physically impacted". This person also revealed that the singer from Dong Nai swindled the producers, forcing the company to pay ransom.

By September 2023, Minkook had reopened this scandal and said that he had been harassed four times. When he suspected that the male singer had a girlfriend, the "manager" brazenly asked to check his phone. In response to his resistance, this person angrily smashed the phone and physically abused him.
