Minh Thuan: A quiet, sentimental artist who loves his job to his 'last breath'

Minh Thuan (full name is Nguyen Minh Thuan) was born on September 12, 1969 in Ho Chi Minh City in a family of Northern origin in Ninh Binh. His family has all settled in the US, only he is in Vietnam. He is considered one of the vocalists who initiated the youth music genre. Starting his career in the 1990s, he went up with duets with vocalist Nhat Hao and was known to the audience for his gentle, emotional voice.

The couple Minh Thuan - Nhat Hao once created a music fever with a youthful style with mischievous and lovely long hair through songs such as: The bamboo boat, The sulky little girl, Lost in love, Only left Heart, Desperate Expectations, No need for love... That was also the peak of Minh Thuan - Nhat Hao's career. They appear in most of the shows on the big and small musical stages across the country.

Minh Thuan is one of the sensitive and fast-paced singers with musical trends and tastes in each stage of Vietnamese music. During the period when Chinese music was popular in Vietnam, Minh Thuan - Nhat Hao was one of the people who performed the most Chinese songs and created a music fever of that period.

When the Vietnamese music market was loved by the audience, Minh Thuan also edited and produced his own album "Repaying the debt of love from afar". Minh Thuan fell in love with drama with his first role on stage 5B Vo Van Tan. That is the role of teacher Tuan in the play "Love you teacher". This role is very close to the real person of Minh Thuan in real life: gentle, kind. This role brought Minh Thuan the Best Actor award in 2000-2001.

Thanks to being loved right from the first role on the theater stage, Minh Thuan later spent a lot of time on stage instead of music. He received many other roles in the plays "Pagoda", "Rose Thorns", "Glory and Illusion", "Who am I"...

During his time on stage, Minh Thuan still sings with all his passion. Until about 2006, Minh Thuan appeared less on stage to do business and learn more about acting as a premise for him to enter the 7th art discipline - cinema.

Minh Thuan's first movie role is quite impressive. He appeared as a guest in the movie "When a man is pregnant" with 22 seconds.

After this movie, Minh Thuan really entered the cinema with the movies: "Zhang Ba's soul, butcher's skin", "Ugly girl", "Suddenly want to cry", "Color of love", "Heroic Destiny", "Battle Bride", "Red Carpet Secret Scandal"...

In particular, the role of Diep performed by Minh Thuan in the Cai Luong opera Lan and Diep (2008) received many nominations at prestigious awards: the top 5 nominations for the Mai Vang Award in the category of Favorite Cai Luong Artist. In 2007, he shed the image of a long-haired singer, instead with short hair to play the role of Ninh Lam in the TV series Ugly Girl. This is also a role that leaves a lot of impression on the audience. It took him 1.5 years to complete 172 episodes.

Not only that, Minh Thuan surprised with his acting talent at the 2014 Familiar Face contest. Minh Thuan's impersonation of people's artist Thuy Huong surprised many audiences. His performance of Sitting on the Peach Song was really one of the best transformations of that year's Familiar Faces season. This performance shows that Minh Thuan always knows how to transform and help him shine.

In early September 2016, the media and public were shocked to hear that he had lung cancer. Minh Thuan discovered he had a serious lung disease in August 2015. Occasionally, he writes a few lines of encouragement for himself, promising to return to work one day. But he did not talk about the severity of the illness he was facing.

Male singer Tinh Tho used the word "health problems" when updating his situation in early August. He also confirmed that he was about to return to work after his health improved. "Thank you so much for having to silently endure my weird temper as a side effect of my medication," he wrote.

He still believes in the positive side of life right after the peak. "I still think that an artist from one era will have another time. It is important that you always keep your life's purpose," he affirmed.

However, in the end, on the morning of September 18, Minh Thuan died at Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. Relatives of the 47-year-old singer shared that at the last minute of his life, he passed away peacefully in his sleep.
