However, after the first single MEOW was released, the rookie girl group's debut product received mixed reviews. From the not-so-good results to the music "crafted" by Teddy, it also did not have many positive effects.

Recently, on the online community theqoo, a post titled: "MEOW of MEOVV was rated 1 star by IZM" attracted 66,000 views and more than 400 comments when posted on the evening of September 17.

The post shares the reviews of music critic site IZM on the song "MEOW" by Kpop girl group MEOVV (including Narin, Gawon, Sooin, Anna, Ella), which was just released on September 6.

IZM commented not very positively on MEOVV's debut product: "In a total duration of less than 3 minutes, the cat's meowing took up more than 1 minute, without any purpose or meaning.

This repetitive sound is added forcefully not only in the intro and outro, but also in the chorus and rap, which quickly becomes tiring.

The IZM page also gave quite harsh comments about the music of the song MEOW: "The combination of bass and drums becomes even more obscure when combined with the identical structure of the two verses. The 30-second ending showing the dance further reduces all the remaining impressions. The monotonous rhythm, the unpleasant lyrics, the empty repetition. This is due to the "greed" of wanting to convey both the message and the image but both are incomplete.

However, the bright spot in the song is Gawon's voice. However, the song is too weak to promote the strengths of each member. Why is a fast-paced song that will soon be forgotten more important than good music that makes listeners want to listen to it over and over again?

After IZM's article was published, the Korean online community had many mixed comments. The majority of comments said that these were the reviews they wanted to say because of their disappointment with Teddy as well as the debut of rookie MEOVV. If before that, the online community had high expectations for a true "BLACKPINK sister" group with an explosive debut product, then when the MV was released, everyone was "completely disappointed".

The music is not too impressive, the rap part is compared to not having the "quality" like some rookie groups that debuted at the same time. Or the choreography is not outstanding enough to show the skills of each member. The voices of the 5 members of MEOVV are said to be too similar and no one has any special prominence except for Gawon as IZM mentioned.

However, many other opinions defended, affirming that MEOW, although not "hitting the roof", is still a song worth listening to. Especially the group's live performances have received a lot of praise from the online community.
