MEOVV and BABYMONSTER embarrass BLACKPINK fans instead of being compared, no door

MEOVV has just released the MV Meow but the achievement is quite modest, even though the song is produced by Teddy - the person behind countless BlackPink hits. Similarly, Baby Monster - YG Entertainment's new group - also did not explode as expected. Korean media said that it is difficult for two new groups to achieve success like BlackPink.

MEOVV consists of five members, Ella Gross, Gawon, Sooin, Anna and Narin, who are recruited and trained directly by the "music wizard" Teddy. Teddy is known as a cult K-pop music producer who is behind Big Bang's hit series, 2NE1, and BlackPink.

The songs that helped BlackPink become famous globally such as Boombayah, Ddu-du Ddu-du, Kill this love, How you like that, Pink Venom... were all "molded" by Teddy.

Sharing the same fate as MEOVV, the girl group Baby Monster is also often put on the scale compared to BlackPink because they debuted under the "big man" YG Entertainment.

Right from the group's name, YG Entertainment showed its ambition to create a second BlackPink by combining two words with a cute and strong meaning, "baby - monster", similar to "black - pink"

Baby Monster debuted with MV Batter up on 26-11-2023. However, the performance of the seven girls was inferior to MEOVV when they only reached the 140th Genie rank and did not enter any other major Korean music charts.

Not successful in terms of digital music, but the Baby Monster girls own up to five MVs with more than 100 million views, namely Forever, Like that, Batter up, Sheesh and Stuck in the middle, showing the great attraction of the 5th gen group.

Despite owning songs with hundreds of millions of views, Baby Monster has not been able to break through like NewJeans because there is no innovation in music.

In Baby Monster's songs, there are only repetitive lyrics and rushing electronic music, YG Entertainment's timeless formula. That's why nearly a year after the group's debut, it's still called "BlackPink's sister".

According to Koreaboo, up to 100 groups debut every year, so creating their own colors is extremely important. If they continue to follow the music that has created BlackPink's success, both MEOVV and Baby Monster will find it difficult to survive in a harsh market like K-pop.
