Jisoo learns martial arts, ready to "fight" with the other 3 members of Blackpink

On January 7, the Coupang Play platform held a production press conference for the new drama " Newtopia", with the participation of director Yoon Sung Hyun and the two main actors Park Jung Min and Jisoo ( Blackpink).

"Newtopia" is a movie that mixes romance and horror elements, set in the city of Seoul being invaded by zombies (undead) after a virus spreads. Lee Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min) - a late enlisted soldier and his girlfriend Kang Young Joo (Jisoo), will overcome the chaos to reunite.

Director Yoon Sung Hyun said that the film will focus on portraying the undead in a novel way: "Recently, many stories about the undead tend to be more fearful. I want to go back to the undead era that looked weird and funny.

This nostalgic approach, combined with today's sensibilities, will probably provide a unique experience for the audience."

Regarding the reason for participating in this project, actress Jisoo shared, "I have seen a lot of zombie movies, but when I read the script of 'Newtopia', I felt that this is a movie that is not just about the intense zombie outbreak, but also has many other colors.

The character of Young Joo is very attractive, and I want to play a proactive, enterprising person. Moreover, I chose this project without hesitation because of the director Yoon Sung Hyun and actor Park Jung Min."

Asked about the challenges related to physical fitness in action scenes, Jisoo surprised reporters by confessing that the physical requirements of this role were not too difficult for her, because she usually had good endurance.

However, the difficulty was that she had to wear the same clothes for 6 months when the weather changed.

Jisoo added about going to martial arts school, "At first, I couldn't do the somersault proficiently, I only did the somersault once and then stopped to look around.

But after the action training course, I was able to flip up to 5 times in a row without interruption. Attending martial arts school and physical training has helped me increase my endurance and not get tired when performing action scenes."

Co-star Park Jung Min and director Yoon Sung Hyun also praised Jisoo for her incredible power. The director said, "In the past, I thought Lee Je Hoon was the one with the best physical fitness, but now I have to admit that Jisoo's endurance surpasses him.

The filming process has a lot of action, martial arts and bloo.d scenes. But when I asked her if she had any difficulties, Jisoo said no. She always has a very positive energy."

The movie "Newtopia" will premiere on the evening of February 7 on Coupang Play, and international audiences can watch the film through Prime Video in more than 240 countries/regions.
