On the day of BlackPink's Born Pink concert in Vietnam, fans were shocked to receive the shocking news at the risk of the show being canceled because the organizer had not yet paid the music copyright. Recently, the agency in Vietnam has officially announced the cost of copyright, the number of tens of billions is shocking.
In the past few days, BlackPink fans in Vietnam have been standing still, looking forward to each day before this "Black Hong storm" officially landed in Vietnam. This is also the first time that the 4 girls in this Korean girl group hold a concert in Vietnam, and also the last Born Pink tour to be conducted in Asia. This makes fans all over the country excited, simultaneously heading to Hanoi - where the concert will take place.
Accordingly, this Born Pink concert will be held at My Dinh National Stadium, on 2 consecutive nights on July 29 and 30. The ticket hunting fever has also been quickly dispersed by all fans, selling out thousands of tickets a month ago. Although there are still many complaints about ticket prices, saying that the price is too high compared to concerts held in other countries. Besides, there are many people holding tickets, selling at a loss, no one buying. But still undeniably, the BlackPink fever is still extremely hot, everyone is looking forward to the day the 4 girls appear in Vietnam.
Up to now, there is only 1 day left for the first night of the Born Pink concert to take place. However, in terms of music copyright issues, paying fees is still very troublesome. Accordingly, on July 27, in a document sent to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center (VCPMC) confirmed that IME - the organizer of the Born Pink concert in Hanoi have violated copyright, acted contrary to commitments with VCPMC and instructions that Vietnamese state management authorities have requested this unit to implement before the program took place. submit.
On the morning of July 28, during a working session with IME, the VCPMC side also had plans to resolve the dispute over the fee to pay for this work. Specifically, VCPMC offers two options, option 1: according to the rate table: 5% x 60% capacity (40,000 tickets) x average ticket price, option 2: 5% x total revenue of 20,000 tickets. Closing the final proposal, the IME side chose the second option.
Thus, according to the above formula, the royalties for BlackPink's concerts have been calculated as follows: 5% x (average ticket price x performance capacity is 20,000 tickets), equivalent to 5% x ( 5,350,000 x 20,000) VND. The resulting number is 5 billion 530 million. So the total cost of two nights that IME has to pay is 10 billion 700 million VND. This is an extremely terrible number, anyone who hears it must be shocked and worried about the organizer of this concert.
Also because the number given was too high, the IME side had a long time of disputes and disagreements, which lasted until close to the day of the concert. In an interview with Lao Dong newspaper, Doan Thuy Phuong, General Director of VietArt said: "Just like domestic music production companies, BlackPink show organizers do not refuse to exercise copyright rights. but do not agree with the calculation of royalties that VCPMC offers".
Currently, this is considered a law, because VCPMC is the only unit in Vietnam that can license the right to perform in public for all musical works in KOMCA's archive, including songs. of BlackPink, performed in the territory of VCPMC. Therefore, if IME wants the concert to take place peacefully, it can only accept what the VCPMC side requires.
Also answering in Lao Dong newspaper, Ms. Ngoc Cham - Production Director of the program Golden Son once commented: "The price of 10.7 billion VND is too high, exceeding the limit of percentage of revenue of an event. No event organizer can accept that price, not to mention the event may suffer a loss, not achieve the expected revenue."
Currently, the noise surrounding the Born Pink concert this time in Vietnam is still causing strong shock to the public. However, the fans are waiting for everything to be sorted out by the organizer soon, so that the BlackPink concert can take place successfully.
