Hoang Linh: Double beautiful once, now sick have to live alone at a borrowed house, the children in the US do not care

"My electricity and water, my rent, people don't take it. Daily living expenses are mostly given by donors. In general, I have something to eat," artist Hoang Linh choked up about his current situation.

At the age of 80, artist Hoang Linh has many elderly diseases. He has lived in a house that he has been lending to for 30 years and with the support and help of donors everywhere.

Alone in a 15m2 house

The corrugated iron roof house with an area of about 15m2 in a small alley in Binh Thanh district is where artist Hoang Linh has lived for nearly 30 years. The house is corrugated iron and is reduced heat thanks to cardboard, nylon. However, in the words of artist Hoang Linh, "this house is as hot as a bread oven".

Electricity and water we take care of, housing money, people do not take it. Daily living expenses are mostly given by donors. In general, I have nothing to eat. At the age of 80, artist Hoang Linh has difficulty walking, having to use a support cane due to knee osteoarthritis, varicose veins of both legs. A few years ago, he suffered a stroke. As a result of the accident, his hands were no longer as flexible as before, unable to raise them above his face. In addition, he had high blood pressure, a 3-leaf heart valve opening, and no gallbladder in his body because of stones.

Every day, artist Hoang Linh still has to take medicine. Thanks to the health insurance card that he donated, so every time he ran out of medicine, he went to the hospital with a cane to "beg".

Despite many diseases and difficulty walking, artist Hoang Linh's memory is still very clear, his voice is bright. He even remembers the classic plays he used to perform.

In a golden age, marriages broke down because of too many tours

Artist Hoang Linh was born in 1949 in Saigon in a family of 6 brothers. Recalling a golden age, although his name was not too popular, Hoang Linh used to roll out Cai Luong throughout large and small theaters in Saigon and the Western province.

Huang Linh's father was the master of Nine Extracts. From a young age, he was exposed to the ancient art of tuong when he accompanied his father to perform at pagodas and pagodas.

Hoang Linh's father allowed him to study singing with musician Tam Nhat in Bui Vien Street, District 1. After a few years, he joined the Dong Luong reform troupe Minh To to perform many plays such as Xiao Anh Phung riot, stepmother of her son-in-law. After that, the artist joined singing troupes from Dong Au Kim Nam, Chong Duong, Dong Nai to Saigon 2.

In the early 1980s, Hoang Linh caught the eye of artist Diamond, being invited to play the role of Lieutenant Cuong in the play In the Name of Justice. He joined the Diamond Speaking troupe, became a beautiful double of the troupe, appearing on advertising banners next to his names: Shen Thuy Hang, Huynh Thanh Tra. He played the roles of Zhou Xianyuan (Lei Yu), Tam (Abyss of Height), Wuhuang (Durian Leaf).

Loving the job, there are roles that he takes, even roles that are the main dual bagger, living income, gasoline and car roaming in groups. When his family separated, and his stage passed its heyday, his life became difficult, unable to prepare for old age.

Although not an illustrious name in the world of reform or drama, the love of art and nostalgia for theater is always waiting in Hoang Linh. To alleviate his nostalgia for the stage, he listens to reform on YouTube every day.

The artist said: "It's just old age, going back and forth all day. I'm content with what I have to see myself happy."

No longer acting for many years, but when it comes to theater, Hoang Linh is still enthusiastic. The artist said he always appreciates roles no matter how big or small. Referring to the role of Cuong in the play In the Name of Justice, he remembered the memory of going to the home of artist Diamond to sit with her all night, before the premiere. Unexpectedly, his performance was loved by audiences and people in the profession.

"I'm proud to have had a good time with the profession, portraying a variety of characters. Now, I have no regrets or wishes. Live that day or that day," Hoang Linh said.

Artist Hoang Linh also had a wife and children but could not keep his marriage because he was busy touring and did not take care of his family. He had 3 children. The eldest child has passed away, and the other two are residing abroad. According to the artist, "I am not upset when my children do not support me to take care of my father because I was to blame in the past."
