The chance to come to the stage and the meaning behind the name Hoa Mi

Hoa Mi's real name is Truong Thi My, born in 1955. Right from the age of 15, while studying at Gia Long Girls' High School, Hoa Mi started singing. She signed up to join the Gio Khoi choir and went on stage with everyone as a way to relieve sadness.

Here, she was suggested by musician Doan Chinh - son of musician Doan Chuan to enter the Vocal Department for the first course of the National School of Music. Composer Doan Chinh was also Hoa Mi's first music teacher, before she had the chance to meet musician Hoang Thi Tho and completely change her future.

While studying at the National School of Music, Hoa Mi often appeared on television with the Gio Khoi band and the school's band. Not only that, she also often joins the Lac Hong band, specializing in choir singing with the ethnic musical instrument orchestra. At this time, she was still active under the stage name Truong My (based on her real name Truong Thi My).

Many times appearing on national television, the voice of the schoolgirl Truong My was fortunate to catch the eye of musician Hoang Thi Tho. Introduced by singer Bui Thien, Hoa Mi had the opportunity to meet musician Hoang Thi Tho for the first time and almost broke down when he commented: "I saw you singing on TV and really liked your voice. If I were to promote you as a professional singer now, what would you think?"

From here, she officially became a student of musician Hoang Thi Tho and he changed her stage name to Hoa Mi, with the introduction of "a new bird sound in the Vietnamese music sky". Accordingly, musician Hoang Thi Tho wanted to give his students the stage name of precious birds, before that was the famous singer Son Ca.

Performing the compositions of musician Hoang Thi Tho, Hoa Mi quickly received a lot of attention and love from the audience. She even had the opportunity to collaborate with singers Ngoc Yen and Diem Chi to perform the trio Mat Biec at singer Khanh Ly's tea room.

Career events and predestined relationships with the first husband

It seemed that Hoa Mi's singing career would become more and more sublimated under the guidance of teacher Hoang Thi Tho. But in 1975, an incident occurred when he took some of his students to Japan to tour and was lost in a foreign country. Hoa Mi belongs to the other group that is active in the country, but after a while, the group also disbanded.

Thinking her singing career was over, Hoa Mi decided to continue studying law, opening herself up to another opportunity to earn a living. Not long after that, musician Ngoc Chanh went to her house to find Hoa Mi and invited her to join the musical program in the Kim Cuong theater troupe.

In the process of working with the Kim Cuong troupe, Hoa Mi had the opportunity to meet and work with saxophonist Le Tan Quoc and gradually developed feelings for each other. After 6 months of dating, Le Tan Quoc proposed to Hoa Mi and received a nod of approval from her. Now, when recounting, singer Hoa Mi also revealed that at that time, she really hadn't thought about getting married because she was still too young. But due to being orphaned by both parents and lacking love since childhood, Hoa Mi always wishes to have a new family beside the man she loves.

Taking the risk of getting married at a young age and their career still unsettled, the couple's married life fell into an extremely difficult situation. At this time, the congenital eye disease of artist Le Tan Quoc became more and more serious, along with the birth of 3 children, making the burden even more heavy on Hoa Mi's shoulders. She has to take care of her husband, raise her children and take care of her career. The lack of money has caused all 3 of Hoa Mi's children to be malnourished and have tuberculosis.

The first marriage was broken, the Nightingale quietly received so much bitterness from the world

Although life has many difficulties and hardships, but having a husband is a solid spiritual support, so Hoa Mi has not stopped trying. In 1988, Hoa Mi was invited to France to perform for a Tet program for Vietnamese expatriates. She risked her intention to stay in France, waiting for the day when she could welcome her husband and children here in the hope that advanced medicine could help cure Le Tan Quoc's illness.

This decision has caused Hoa Mi to receive a lot of criticism from the home audience. Many people believe that she left her homeland, her disabled husband and 3 young children to run after a luxurious life in France. Squeezing the pain and harsh words of people, Hoa Mi still works hard to have money to send back to her husband and children.

2 years after going to France, Hoa Mi is finally able to fulfill her dream. But before she could be happy because she could welcome her family to France to reunite, Hoa Mi received sad news when the best French ophthalmologist could not save her husband's eyes.

At this time, Le Tan Quoc fell into a deadlock because he could not adapt to his new life. He and Hoa Mi, after many times sitting down to talk to each other, decided to break up, even though they were still very attached in their hearts. Both think that this is the only way and also the best.

Meeting and knowing about Hoa Mi's situation, he proposed to her and promised to raise her children to be human with her.

The two returned to Vietnam to hold a celebration ceremony, at this time Le Tan Quoc also remarried and also went with his wife to congratulate Hoa Mi.

Finding singing again at the age of 60

After getting married with a new husband, Hoa Mi had to temporarily leave the limelight, retreating to become the rear to support her husband. She helps her husband take care of the housework and raise the children so that the husband can feel secure about the business. By the time everything was fine, the children had grown up, so Hoa Mi planned to sing again, but at this time, she was pregnant with the youngest child, so she had to put the plan aside.
