My parents too, true artists are very poor, unlike now. My family, from my parents to my uncle, are all artists, so I see everyone living very well. Later, my mother had to stop doing art to go out into business. When my mother runs a business, family life is much easier. Since then, my parents decided not to let me pursue art.

But I think, it is not necessary to follow art from a young age. Whenever I have a chance, I can still follow art. Until now, sometimes I still MC, sing, go to fashion shows for fun. It is known that Dam Luu Ly chose to become a flight attendant to fulfill his father's dream. Her father used to work in the Central Puppet Theater. He often travels abroad on business.

Once, he said to his daughter: "I find the flight attendants very beautiful, I wish that one day, I can fly with you and you are a flight attendant". That statement from his father made Dam Luu Ly dream of becoming a flight attendant.

And as fate would have it, that year was also the first year that the Vietnam Airlines Corporation recruited expanded flight attendants, not from the army or other industries.

She recalled: "In the 90s, when they became a flight attendant, they were all happy because their income was very high. One person working can support many people. I attended the first flight attendant recruitment class of the airline. I was not in Vietnam and was lucky enough to be accepted. I lost sleep and food for a week because I was so happy.

At that time, recruiting flight attendants was very difficult, the requirements were very strict, it was not possible to have scars on people. The people who directly recruit are pilots, not flight attendants like now. I am taller than you, 1m69 while the maximum height is 1m66.

During the interview, the pilots said: "I really like you, but I'm a bit too tall. If you let me fail, I'm sorry. Do you have any ideas?"

I said: 'I think Vietnam's aviation in the future has to be more developed, the plane is bigger and will definitely need someone as tall as me'. The uncles clapped their hands, agreed and signed the contract."

Satisfied with the present life, do not want to talk about marriage

At that time, Dam Luu Ly was also the face of Vietnam Airlines in the media and press. With an outstanding height compared to everyone in the 90s and a lovely face, Dam Luu Ly was repeatedly encouraged by family, colleagues, and friends to go to the Miss Universe contest.

In 1994, Dam Luu Ly was taken by her father to compete in Miss Tien Phong - the predecessor of Miss Vietnam now and entered the top 5. After this contest, she did not want to go to the beauty contest anymore, but in 1995, she won the contest. The director of Vietnam's aviation industry directly called and named Dam Luu Ly to represent the airline to compete in Miss Ao Dai.

The beauty went to the exam with the mentality of completing the assigned task, not interested in anything. However, by the final night, when looking down at the auditorium, two thirds of the audience were airline people, corporations, and flight attendants who went to watch and cheer, Dam Luu Ly told her heart, must be determined to win the prize, if No teammates will be very sad and disappointed.

This time, luck smiled on her. Dam Luu Ly was crowned the highest position of the contest - Miss Ao Dai 1995. This contest, so far, has no successor.

After winning the award, Dam Luu Ly received many invitations to act in films, but she refused. Only in her free time, she accepted to be an MC for a TV station or participated in fashion shows.

At the age of 33, Dam Luu Ly met a man. The two live together but do not register their marriage. After 20 years of dedication to the aviation industry, Dam Luu Ly decided to stop to build a family with a child, and at the same time turn to an inviting path, a new life. That year, she was 39 years old.
