In particular, the Foundations test tests knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Genetic Biomedicine, along with minor subjects such as Microbiology, Pharmacology, Pathology and Embryonic Tissue. Specialization 1 includes Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Specialization 2 includes Surgery and Obstetrics. Each lesson has 120 questions in 90 minutes, requiring candidates to both master the theory and flexibly apply knowledge.
After intense rounds of competition, surpassing nearly 1,000 candidates, Vu Ngoc Duy, 24 years old, from Phu Tho (formerly of Vinh Phuc), excellently became the valedictorian of the 2025 resident doctor exam. Ngoc Duy shared that he himself was "very surprised when he became valedictorian, because at first he only hoped to be in the top 20 to choose his favorite major". Explaining his decision to major in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Duy said that a great inspiration came from Dr. Tran Danh Cuong, former Director of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Duy noticed that many people mistakenly believe that childbirth takes place safely, but in fact, the process of crossing the land has many potential risks and risks for pregnant women. He said: "Only when directly participating in births, witnessing the danger to the mother can we truly understand the sacredness and hardship of this profession."
