The police then also arrested and searched the residence for: Mr. Nguyen Van Nguu (57 years old, living in Ward 1, Cai Lay Town, Director of Cai Lay Regional General Hospital); Huynh Duc Trong (nickname Trong Mat, 37 years old, living in My Luoc hamlet, Thien Trung commune, Cai Be district), Nguyen Ngoc Hau (nicknamed Hau Ma Voi, 26 years old, living in An Hoa hamlet, An Cu commune, H. .Cai Be) and Le Quoc Dat (nicknamed Hugo, 34 years old, living in Ward 3, Ward 4, TX. Cai Lay), to investigate the act of "murder".

Colonel Nguyen Van Nhut, Director of Tien Giang Provincial Police, said that, realizing the particularly serious nature of the case, the Deputy Director of the Provincial Public Security organized a fight and arrested the subjects. After collecting all the evidence and documents, at about 23:30 on April 8, the police urgently arrested the above 4 subjects.

Through the search, the police seized 50 million VND, an object suspected to be a grenade along with other evidences related to the case.

Immediately after being arrested, the testimony of the suspects was very small. By noon on April 9, the suspects initially admitted their crimes. Dat confessed to the police that it was he who stabbed Muoi with a knife, and the other subjects also confessed to their actions.
