The group's tactic is often to post a series of information about finding lost children on social media to attract interest. After that, the page manager will revise the content to promote medical examination and treatment or sell Chinese medicine.
According to Vietnamese Women, a series of groups on Facebook appeared information about finding lost children, finding relatives of lost children, with words that people want to share widely to help children return to their families.
Specifically, the nickname M.H, posted on the Group Hoi Van Giang - VietEco Tourist under the social networking platform Facebook, is as follows: "This girl got lost in Van Giang, asked her not to say anything, so she could not determine her whereabouts. Parents are probably looking for the baby now, so ask everyone to share so that relatives can come and pick him up! He's at the CA office, 035*** please share when watching, don't be heartless not to share your sin!"
In addition, the nickname Ä.V also regularly posts information to find lost children, such as: "There are 2 lost children also in Van Giang passage. Baby girl: T.T was born in 2016. Boy: H.L was born in 2015. Father: Nguyen T.P, mother: Dinh T.T. Whereabouts are unknown. Ask the sharing community to help your parents. Hung Phone 0912***...".
Facing this situation, Ms. Duyen (residing in: Van Giang town, Van Giang district, Hung Yen) said: "Information posted like this, often shared a lot by netizens, because people also uphold the spirit and community responsibility, ready to share enthusiastically to hope that family members find lost children, I don't think it's fake news."
After posting about finding lost children for a while, when they have attracted quite a lot of interaction and shares, these partners will correct all the content of the post. Information about lost children will be replaced or supplemented with content promoting Chinese medicine of unknown origin but hailed as a divine medicine.
Returning to the 2 accounts M.H and D.V posted the news of finding lost children mentioned above, the content has been edited into a promotional article for a male herbal oriental medicine as follows: "Accident bedridden for 2 years, massage these 3 bottles of medicine can walk. Accidents or congenital inability to walk, if you have relatives who suffer from the above or have back pain, numbness of limbs, sciatica, arthritis, herniated discs, degenerative calcare, varicose veins, gout ... This drug recovers very well, Phone number 0377***... ".
To find out the content of the case, the reporter called Mr. Dam's phone number, when a man answered the phone, claiming to be a doctor specializing in bone and joint treatment. He introduced the special potion for osteoarthritis of Herb Nam, in the form of high topical and stated the name of the company along with the address of making this herb. After consulting on treatment over the phone, he fixed the price for 5 vials at 1,750,000 VND.
However, when looking up and learning about Nam Herb remedy on the website of the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health of Dak Lak province, the result received was zero. There is absolutely no remedy or information related to the aforementioned heirloom herb. Thus, it is possible that this is a remedy that has not been tested and recognized by professional authorities.
It is worth mentioning that because of these tricks, many people are dragged into the "mess" themselves, they themselves do not know they have been cheated. Typically, Ms. N.T, from Phung Cong commune, Van Giang district, shared: "When I saw the information sharing that the children were lost, I also felt guilty about them, so I clicked to share, so I hoped that their relatives would find their children.
But a few days later, I received a phone call from my sister in Bac Giang, asking if Herb Nam osteoarthritis medicine is good, for her to buy. I just figured out that they had edited the post, so I became the one sharing the drug promotion. In fact, I don't know what it's like."
Over the past time, the problem of online Chinese medicine scams has been causing social pain, because of the tricks of staging fraudulent advertisements to steal money from patients, despite the provisions of the law and morality, to extort money from patients taking place on social networking platforms.
Only because of the sense of responsibility to the community, many people have accidentally shared the promotion of Chinese medicine of unknown origin, because of the trick trap of the sellers of this drug. From there, it causes many consequences that directly affect the lives of victims themselves and those around them.
