Mr. Thai Ngo Hieu (born in 1989), an officer of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Dong Nai Provincial Police, has been promoted from Lieutenant to Captain since April 10, 2022. At the ceremony, the Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee sent a letter of merit, the Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee awarded an unexpected certificate of merit. President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also praised and praised the achievements of Mr. Thai Ngo Hieu on April 11, 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Vu Hong Van - Director of Dong Nai Provincial Police said: Mr. Thai Ngo Hieu's act of saving people has touched and admired the people for his courage, decisive spirit, agility, methodical professional skills and extraordinary physical strength.

"The brave action of Comrade Thai Ngo Hieu has saved the lives of 4 young men and women who are in the most beautiful youth of their lives. Being considered a hero in everyday life, it has helped 4 families and 4 families avoid pain and loss, contributing to bringing a happy and peaceful life to society" - Major General Van emphasized.

Also at the ceremony, the Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee sent a letter of commendation and gifts to Captain Hieu to praise the sense of responsibility and courage in protecting the lives and property of the people.

Previously, at 7:50 a.m. on April 10, 2022, at Zenna resort beach (Phuoc Tinh commune, Long Dien district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), Mr. Hieu heard shouts and discovered that a group of people had drowned, so he urgently went to this area. There were 1 man and 3 women who drowned and were rescued by Mr. Thai Ngo Hieu and brought ashore in an unconscious state, with purple limbs. With first aid skills, he saved the lives of all 4 victims.

Recently, on April 13, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc also signed Decision No. 443/QD-CTN awarding the Medal of Courage to Captain Thai Ngo Hieu for his brave actions to save lives, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. The Decision takes effect from the date of signing.

The President emphasized that these are really brave, compassionate and noble actions that are admired and respected by the people and proposed that the Ministry of Public Security and Dong Nai Provincial Police have a form of commendation and reward worthy of Lieutenant Thai Ngo Hieu. The examples of selflessness for the lives of these victims in the community need to be promptly spread so that many people have more faith in the good things in life.

In addition, the Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also decided to give an unexpected certificate of merit, along with a bonus to Captain Hieu for his excellent achievement in saving the lives of many drowning people.

The Party Committee and leaders of Dong Nai Police also launched an emulation campaign in the entire provincial police force to study and emulate the sense of responsibility and courage of Captain Thai Ngo Hieu; contributing to continuing to build a clean and strong Dong Nai Police force.

Talking to the press about his actions, Mr. Hieu said that it was a very normal incident, part of his job and task. Besides, there is a human conscience when seeing the victim must be saved. "The rescue time is very fast, only about 10 minutes, if it takes a long time, they will all die. At first, I saved for a long time because the group was large, hugging each other. As soon as he was done, he turned around to save the next person. The person behind me swam with the right technique, swam on his back to lift the victim's neck to breathe air and then slowly swam in," Mr. Hieu recounted.
