Ms. Phuong My Chi accompanies her sister on all fronts, revealing the shocking behind-the-scenes

At the Sing! Asia 2025, Phuong My Chi not only conquered the judges with her powerful voice but also scored points with the international audience thanks to her careful investment in performance costumes, imbued with Vietnamese culture.

Behind those well-groomed appearances, the special companion is her biological sister – Phuong My Quyen, who is currently taking on the role of stylist.

In the quarterfinals, the singer born in 2003 made a strong impression with a dress inspired by the lotus flower – the national flower of Vietnam. The design belongs to the collection of Silt Line by designer Nguyen Hung Bao, which once appeared in Hoang Thuy Linh's MV See Love. Realizing the symbolism and strong stage effect, stylist Quyen Phuong chose this outfit for her sister.

However, the preparation process is not simple. Because the shipping conditions to Hong Kong were quite urgent, Quyen Phuong contacted the designer to reprocess the dress: trimming the lotus brim, sewing more underwear and gloves. As a result, the costume both retains the necessary grandeur and is convenient for movement and performance. Attachment details such as 3D petals, crystal tassels also help the singer shine more under the spotlight.

Previously, in the recording round in Singapore, Phuong My Chi performed a mashup of Ly Bac Bo in an innovative ao dai with the image of a rice drum – a symbol of Vietnamese folklore. This design is the creation of designer Thuy Nguyen, with colorful sleeves and fringes, in line with the joyful and childish spirit in the repertoire. "Since I saw this outfit by designer Thuy Nguyen, I knew it had to be for Chi's performance this time," said stylist Quyen Phuong.

Not only playing the role of professional support, Phuong My Chi's sister is also the one who always accompanies her throughout her artistic journey. Both sisters have a 7-year age gap and have been closely attached since Phuong My Chi first started to be known. In the first years of singing, it was her sister who managed the image and fashion style for the female singer.

On her personal TikTok channel, Quyen Phuong once shared many videos showing the close and humorous relationship between the two sisters. She called her brother a "laughing pill", saying that even though there were occasional quarrels, the two still understood and loved each other very much. "There are only two sisters at home. Apart from the times when they cause confusion, the two of them are quite compatible with each other," Quyen Phuong said.

She also shared: "I feel like he doesn't see me as a sister. Sometimes it's a friend, sometimes it's a sister, and sometimes it's an enemy. I rarely be his sister. Depending on the mood of the day, it will decide what you are in this life and how you treat yourself."

The affection between the two sisters was clearly shown when Quyen Phuong spoke out to protect Phuong My Chi amid the noise related to Ms. Ut – a person who was once close to her family. She affirmed: "Baby Chi is really ungrateful. If you say that the child is ungrateful, you have to go back to the story of 4 years ago. At that time, if the child is ungrateful, he will not respectfully mention Ms. Ut's name over and over again in events or interviews."

My Quyen added that, despite the cracks in the kinship relationship, Phuong My Chi still maintains a polite attitude, often sending gifts and money to her mother to show gratitude. According to Quyen Phuong, if it weren't for the cause, her mother would not have provided for the cost of treatment for a person who had been hurt.

"Love pays with love. I also affirmed that the discord between my mother and relatives has existed for a long time, and for my mother and Ms. Ut, I wonder if it is a monthly allowance of 2-3 million VND?", she asked. "If you say that love or help is converted into money, my family will also accept the loss. Because I can't make a small child burden, provide 3 million VND per month indefinitely, gifts from the beginning of the year to the end of the month or other pocket money to call it gratitude and repayment, I don't know what to say anymore – if Ms. Ut thinks like that."

At the same time, My Quyen also recalled memories that made it difficult for Phuong My Chi to accept the person who was once a close relative. According to her, it was the person who had acted to seriously hurt the mother of the two sisters, and once suspected that Phuong My Chi took the toys and poured them all out for checking.
