Recently at more than 6 pm on May 3, in an apartment complex in Co Son town, Tan An district, Fuzhou city, Fujian province, China, there was a tragic elevator accident that killed a boy. 13 years old died.
It is known that the victim lived with her family in an apartment on the second floor of the apartment complex. At the time of the incident, the boy had just taken an umbrella to buy food and was on his way home.
According to the video recorded at the scene, at about 6:26 pm on the same day, the 13-year-old boy entered the elevator and pressed the button to go to the 2nd floor. However, the elevator did not stop at the 2nd floor, but continued to go up halfway up the middle. 6th and 7th floor stopped, door still closed.
The boy quickly pressed the alarm button, the emergency call button and kept banging on the elevator door, but did not receive any response.
After a desperate plea for help, the boy saved himself by using the umbrella he carried to pry open the door. At 6:34 pm, the boy got out of the hole less than half a meter high and fell from the elevator to his death.
Mr. Lam - the victim's uncle - family representative expressed doubts about the negligence of the elevator management and maintenance unit. First, he thinks that the elevator at the apartment complex has been put into use for a long time but has not been maintained regularly, leading to many incidents. Moreover, the regular elevator maintenance schedule on the 1/5 holiday is also not implemented.
Then, at the time of the incident, there were no staff to monitor the general security situation and did not detect the incident in the elevator, so no timely action was taken. In addition, the alarm button or emergency call does not work in an emergency. Therefore, the victim's family feels that the building elevator management unit must take responsibility for the death of the poor boy.
When reporters arrived at the scene, the elevator that had a problem had stopped working and was enclosed. There was not a single person in the community property management room of the apartment complex. Some people revealed that from the evening of May 3 (ie the day the incident happened) until noon on May 4, there was no staff on duty here.
The reporter contacted Mr. Hoang, the representative of the legal entity of the apartment building's management company. Mr. Hoang said that he had just received the apartment since September last year, the elevator maintenance was assigned to a specialized company in charge. Regarding the above incident, Mr. Hoang expressed that he would take the results of the investigation agency as a standard.
In the apartment, 32 cameras are installed and all are clearly displayed on the security management screen. According to the disclosure, the staff on duty on the day of the incident did not receive any signal for help.
By phone, Mr. Ta, an employee of Duat Hoanh Elevator Co., Ltd - the unit in charge of elevator maintenance for the apartment building where the incident occurred - said that this apartment complex was installed with a total of 21 elevators, starting was put into operation in 2005. Usually about half a year, the company's staff will come to check the elevator once and the vast majority of them are working normally.
According to Mr. Ta, when the elevator has the above problem, there is still enough oxygen in the elevator compartment, the person in danger should stay in the elevator and press the alarm button and wait for the functional forces to come to the rescue. After the heartbreaking incident, Mr. Ta also went to the scene to check and confirm that the emergency alarm button was still working. However, he also expressed that he did not know the cause of the incident. According to the original plan, May 4 was the time to check and maintain the elevator that had a problem.
Currently, local authorities are actively investigating to clarify the cause of the incident and the responsibilities of the parties involved.
