4-storey apartment collapsed in Binh Thanh: The house next door suffered the consequences, facing the risk of collapse!

After the 4-storey apartment collapsed not long ago, the building next door began to show signs of a side tilt, causing people to move out.

Recorded in the morning of October 4 in front of the house 133/1 Binh Quoi, Ward 27, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City (collapsed on September 24), the surrounding area is still being roped up and warned of danger by local authorities.

Later, the center had information to determine that house No. 133/1A Binh Quoi (next to house 133/1) was tilted in the direction of house 133/1.

According to the morning of October 4, the entire scene of the collapse as well as the adjacent house were cordoned off with wires, with signs warning "danger zone" outside. The affected house is also 4 storeys tall and it can be seen that this house is tilted to the naked eye.

Talking to reporters, Ms. Dao Thuy Van - Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Ward 27 - said that before the 133/1 house collapse, the house next door had one person living.

After the 133/1 house collapsed, the house next door tilted along. Informed of the safety hazard by authorities, the occupants of house 133/1A have temporarily moved out of the house, pending remediation.

Regarding the collapse of the building, the People's Committee of Binh Thanh district has set up a team to investigate the incident and organize the assessment of the causes and settlement of construction incidents. The collapse is currently in the process of assessing the cause.

According to preliminary information, around 12:30 on the same day, people living in Alley 133, Binh Quoi Street, Ward 27, Binh Thanh District heard a very loud noise. At this time, they saw that the 4-storey house (under renovation) had just collapsed.

A witness at the scene of the accident said he heard a loud noise at the time of the incident. "I heard a very loud noise with strong shaking. After that, nothing more was heard. Ran out and saw that the house next door had collapsed," he said.

Mrs. H. T. N., 50, said she was cooking when she heard a loud explosion and her entire house next door shook. "I didn't know it was a collapse, ran to check it and saw smoke rising high but no fire. It was later discovered that the house had collapsed. People around ran to the rescue and then telegraphed the authorities," she said.

Accordingly, this house has an area of 130m2, a scale of 4 floors and a yard, the structure includes brick walls, floors and reinforced concrete roofs.

Major Huynh Nguyen Thuan, deputy captain of PC07's Fire and Rescue Team, was directly present at the scene, deploying forces to reach trapped victims.

Major Thuan said the scene was very dangerous, with some victims trapped deep in the collapsed structure. One victim showed signs of crushing spinal injuries, making the initial rescue process difficult.

"We have to ask for a doctor to approach the victim and assist in getting the victim out with a handle. Then transferred to the hospital," he said.

According to Major Huynh Nguyen Thuan, during the rescue and rescue process, from the beginning, the unit knew exactly how many victims, alive or not, should deploy a favorable rescue and rescue plan. However, the rescue and rescue process also faced difficulties when the structure could collapse further and the gas cylinders did not exclude the possibility of exploding, so the fire protection and rescue forces had to use more specialized tools to prevent the fire and explosion.

At that time, there were 9 people, including 6 workers, in the house. When the incident occurred, 2 people managed to escape outside, the remaining 7 people were trapped. Later 7 people were taken out, 2 seriously injured.

As of 18:20 on the same day, two victims were being treated at Gia Dinh People's Hospital. After treatment, 2 people are still under observation at the hospital.

According to the People's Committee of Binh Thanh district, the authorities are still investigating the cause of the collapse.
