Mr. Cai confronted the female security officer along with another security officer about this matter. At this time, a scanner operator gave a bottle of water to the other female security officer.

Just after receiving the bottle of water, the female security officer turned her back and tried to swallow a few bills by shoving them into her mouth. But she did not know that right in front of her was a security camera, so all of her actions were recorded.

After that, the passenger discovered that his wallet was open and there was no money inside, so he questioned those present at the screening area.

The official report from the airport also showed that the manager walked up to the female security officer just as she was trying to swallow the coins, apparently to ensure the destruction of evidence. Thus, both the manager and the scanner operator could be accomplices of the female security officer in this money theft.

On September 21, Philippine airport authorities ordered charges against the female security officer. Currently, the female security officer suspected of stealing money from passenger Cai has been suspended from work.

This is the third widely publicized theft incident at Manila airport in 2023. Previously, a group of airport security staff were discovered stealing money from Thai tourists.
