Actor Hoang Hiep and director Ngoc Hung - two close friends of Meritorious Artist Ngoc Trinh were informed by the family in advance, psychologically prepared but still couldn't help but grieve.
Specifically, on August 18, Ngoc Trinh was still happy to go to coffee with 2 friends. But only 1 day later, she suddenly became tired and had difficulty breathing, and had to be admitted to an emergency hospital.
Hoang Hiep and Ngoc Hung - then in the US - were the few close artists who received video calls when Ngoc Trinh was still awake. Looking at her appearance, they didn't expect it to be the last call.
After that, Ngoc Trinh fell into a coma, her condition worsened. Due to respiratory failure, she was ordered by the doctor to run ECMO (artificial heart-lung).
During the 10 days that Ngoc Trinh was in a coma, Ngoc Hung always watched the situation from the US, with a heavy heart. After decades of closeness, going through many joys and sorrows, Ngoc Hung couldn't believe that he had to say goodbye to his friend in this way.
From the US, actor Hoang Hiep can only light up the incense to his seniors. The two made an appointment to do a drama show together at the end of this year, but that plan was unfinished forever.
Because the family kept the information secret, only a few artists knew about Ngoc Trinh's story, so when the obituary was posted, many colleagues were shocked.
People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi said: "I was shocked, I didn't understand what was happening, I thought I heard it wrong. I asked the informant again: 'Which virgin?' because none of us thought it was Ngoc Trinh."
Not having many opportunities to perform together, People's Artist My Uyen still couldn't help but be shocked.
"Trinh and I used to have a short time working together at Stage 5B. In recent years, Trinh has chosen her own path as a freelance actor and teaching. Even though we don't have many opportunities to stand on the same stage, we still love and follow each other's news, because the theater world in Ho Chi Minh City is tiny," she said.
Artist Huu Tien has known Ngoc Trinh's condition since she was in a coma. When his friend died, Huu Tien reread the old messages, saw that he was busy several times because "one movie after another".
"There are appointments that are a little missed and we will no longer see each other," the artist lamented.
Director Thanh Hiep has known Ngoc Trinh since she was a "small, fragile girl but always resilient in front of the stage and the camera".
To this day, he still remembers the first time she boasted about taking on the main role, long calls to share about acting and passionate roles, the nights when the female artist sobbed on the other end of the phone line; to the stage when she collapsed mentally, stopped eating and sleeping because of the litigation with the Ho Chi Minh City Drama Theater.
Currently, Ngoc Trinh's mother is returning from the US to see her daughter's face for the last time. During her lifetime, the actress always guarded her heart about arranging to visit her in the US.
In the past August, Ngoc Trinh was still active in work and daily life. She often posts pictures of going to beauty, getting a haircut and participating in family trips. Previously, on August 11, Ngoc Trinh also shared a radiant image at the graduation ceremony of the eyelash extension course, took a photo with the students and thanked the instructor.
Ngoc Trinh's coffin was laid to rest in District 10, Ho Chi Minh City. The entrance ceremony took place at 7 p.m. on September 1, the opening ceremony at 2 p.m. on September 4. After that, her body will be cremated at Binh Hung Hoa Center. Despite the rain, a large number of friends, colleagues and the audience came to visit the funeral of actor Ngoc Trinh at his home. Everyone's heart was twisted because of her sudden death.
