Just as they made fans proud when announcing that they were about to hold a grand concert, BABYMONSTER had to suffer shame because their chosen opponent "surpassed" them at two award ceremonies.
On November 20, YG Entertainment announced that BABYMONSTER will hold the concert "2025 Bab.y Monster 1st World Tour Hello Monsters In Seoul" on January 25 and 26 next year, Korean time, at the Olympic Park KSPO Dome in Bangi-dong, Seoul.
This event marked a historic milestone as seven female idols were able to hold a concert at the KSPO Dome less than a year after their debut. Korean media commented that "it is rare for a rookie gir.l group to hold their first concert at such a large venue".
In particular, BABYMONSTER's world tour will also introduce songs from their debut album "Drip", promising to bring an interesting experience to the audience. However, the joy did not last long, fans received sad news when the group was temporarily surpassed by their competitors in terms of achievements.
Accordingly, management company Belift Lab has just announced that ILLIT has won the New Artist award at the 66th Japan Records Awards. Immediately after hearing the news, the group was extremely excited and thrilled, especially since the girls have not yet made an official debut in this music market.
"Our goal this year was to win the rookie award and we are happy and honored to see this dream come true. We will continue to grow and perform for our fans," ILLIT shared.
HYBE's group's achievement marks the first time in 13 years that a K-pop gir.l group has won the New Artist category of the Japan Records Awards. Previously, SNSD and 2NE1 also won the award, but it is worth noting that ILLIT is the first group to do so without having officially debuted in the Japanese market, which shows the extraordinary talent of the 5 young female idols.
In fact, ILLIT has gained popularity in the Land of the Rising Sun thanks to their releases in Korea. Their debut mini album "Super Real Me" attracted a lot of attention from the audience, in which the title track "Magnetic" became a big hit that broke many records in this country. In addition, the group also dominated the charts and was honored as the No. 1 Trending Artist at this year's 109 Shibuya Trend Awards.
Notably, after winning at the 66th Japan Records Awards, ILLIT also surpassed many other heavyweight groups to win the title of Best New Female Artist at the 2024 Mnet Asian Music Awards. Receiving good news one after another, right on the stage receiving the award, the 5 members could not hold back their tears.
"Being able to perform on the big stage of the MAMA Awards is a great honor, a dream we have been striving for since our trainee days. Receiving this prestigious rookie award makes us truly grateful," Yunah said emotionally.
The female idol continued, "What comes to mind the most are the times when we struggled as trainees. I want to tell my members that they worked really hard. Also, without GLLIT (ILLIT fandom), we wouldn't have been able to win this award. Thank you so much."
After the awards ceremony ended, ILLIT's speech attracted a lot of attention on social media. Specifically, the part: "We would like to thank our company members Taeho, Yoonhyuk, Gajun, Seryun and everyone else at Belift Lab. We also want to thank the staff who helped us. We sincerely thank everyone."
Netizens quickly realized that the 4 names mentioned by the "rookie" HYBE were the ones that former ADOR CEO - Min Hee Jin filed a lawsuit against a few days ago. However, many opinions said that the 5 female idols mentioning them in their speech was simply to express gratitude for contributing to the group's success.
