Amidst the storms and floods that have made life more difficult for the Vietnamese people, not everyone has the ability to stand up and do charity work. Among them, Ms. Nhan Vlog has attracted attention with a series of relief activities, but has also been embroiled in controversy over her behavior and appearance.
In recent days, the storms and floods in many provinces and cities in Vietnam have seriously affected people's lives. In this situation, many artists and celebrities have gone on charity trips to support people in disaster areas. Among them, Ms. Nhan Vlog - a female vlogger who has attracted attention with her life videos - continues to be present at relief points, bringing necessities and words of encouragement.
However, besides her noble actions, Ms. Nhan also encountered a lot of controversy from the online community. A clip recording the scene of Ms. Nhan giving gifts to the elderly caused heated debate. In the video, the female vlogger spoke rather blankly, lacking soft forms of address such as "da", "chau", "con" - which are familiar communication culture of Vietnamese people.
Just a few short seconds is enough to stir up a wave of conflicting opinions. Many viewers believe that the act of helping is admirable, but the lack of tact will make the image of the charity worker less complete. One prominent comment reads: "Do people in there talk about empty things? When I wait for you, you only say "uncle", "auntie", "wait a minute, is your house empty?"
Not only was Ms. Nhan criticized for her way of speaking, she was also criticized for "going wherever the camera went." In most of her videos, her crew filmed close-ups of gift-giving, quick meals on the roadside, or sitting in the rain and wind.
Although she actively went to help, Ms. Nhan often shared about the difficulties she encountered such as flat tires, rain, exhaustion, and even cried many times on social media. Those emotions were initially sympathized by the audience, but when appearing with high frequency, a part of the audience began to feel tired. Some opinions said that filming is necessary for transparency, but should be restrained to avoid the feeling of "acting" or "pretending to be miserable".
The controversy surrounding Ms. Nhan Vlog is clearly divided into two streams. One side believes that she lacks tact in communication and focuses too much on her personal image. The other side defends her, saying that charity work should be recognized and not scrutinized over every little detail.
For her part, Ms. Nhan still affirms that she will continue her volunteer journey. She shared: "Each trip helps me learn many lessons to organize better."
Since starting her business in Vietnam, Ms. Nhan has been running everything herself. She once shared that she felt tired because she had to work continuously from early morning to late at night, but still felt lucky to have her husband and daughter by her side.
Despite the controversy, Ms. Nhanâs volunteer journey continues, providing practical support to people in flood-hit areas. Each trip is both an opportunity to help the community and a lesson in how to organize and conduct charitable activities. The mixed opinions surrounding her also open up a conversation about the line between recognizing efforts and scrutinizing details.
