During a recent charity trip to Phu Yen, Ms. Nhan Vlog burst into tears when the gift distribution went wrong. Due to some problems, many people on the gift receiving list had to wait for hours without receiving their gifts.
An upset woman shouted: "Don't take advantage of our poverty to make an image", making the atmosphere tense.
Afterwards, Ms. Nhan wrote a long post on social media to clarify the situation. She said: "To keep the story on track, and to prevent people from misunderstanding or distorting or fabricating inaccurate information, I would like to share it again with this post, so that everyone can understand better."
According to her, on the night of November 8, when she heard that people in Song Cau were having difficulties due to power outages, water and food shortages, she quickly tried to find a way to help. "She said: 'We really need ice, Nhan!'", Ms. Nhan wrote and said that she contacted an ice truck and paid nearly 19 million VND that same night.
On November 9, despite her child being sick, she still tried to call for support for the people. On November 10, despite having a livestream schedule worth more than VND1 billion, she decided to stop when she read comments saying that people urgently needed instant noodles, drinking water, and ice to preserve fish and shrimp. "I decided to stop that livestream. They said that pomfret was only sold for VND20,000 per kilo, many people burst into tears because of the huge loss," she said.
Ms. Nhan said she withdrew all of her cash, about 300 million VND, to buy 1,300 boxes of instant noodles, nearly 1,300 boxes of 20-liter water, and a large amount of ice to send to Phu Yen. She and her group of volunteers unloaded the goods themselves, loaded them onto a container truck, and moved to where the people were waiting at around 9 p.m.
"When I arrived, the first thing I did was apologize to the people for being late. The second thing I did was ask them to keep order so that the gift distribution could be quick and fair," she recounted. However, because it was late at night, many people were eager to receive gifts, so there was jostling and pushing. According to her, some people received two or three gifts.
Each village could only distribute about 200â300 portions, each consisting of a box of noodles, a box of water, and half a block of ice. In more difficult areas, she also prepared 50â60 additional envelopes to support. "The scolding started from there. When I finished distributing 200â300 portions, I closed the container truck door and clearly said, 'Now we start distributing according to the list.' At that time, I went to the toilet to come back to continue distributing, but she loudly scolded me," she recounted.
In response to accusations that she deliberately waited for a crowd to film the video, Ms. Nhan refuted: "I swear on my life that this is completely untrue. The time of purchasing, loading, moving and delivering gifts are all specifically recorded. If necessary, I can provide evidence and exact times for each area."
She also said that the video was supposed to be posted on November 11 but was postponed to avoid misunderstandings that she "used the charity video to attract views to advertise the live session". When she arrived at the first location, she was surprised because the number of people was too large, more than 500-600 people, while the total number of gifts was only 1,300, so it had to be divided equally among the villages that were more severely affected.
On the government side, her group contacted the village chief and local police. "That day, both the village chief and his wife and the village police were present to support, but because people from three villages gathered in one place, management was very difficult," she said.
At the end of the article, Mrs. Nhan admitted her mistake for making people wait for so long: "I sincerely bow my head and apologize. Everything happened so quickly, I only had a little time to arrange, so it was inevitable that there were shortcomings. However, people still waited patiently and happily accepted. That is what makes me both grateful and touched."
She concluded: "I take full responsibility if what I share here is not true."
