On January 9, South Korean media reported that Jennie BLACKPINK reached a new milestone in monthly listeners on Spotify for female K-pop solo artists.
Blackpink's Jennie continues to dominate music platforms across the globe, reaching another milestone on Spotify and cementing her status as a top artist in today's music landscape.
Late last year, Jennie surpassed Newjeans' highest monthly listener count on Spotify and has now skyrocketed to a phenomenal 30.83 million monthly listeners on the platform.
This achievement surpasses BTS (currently on hiatus to participate in military service) with 30.75 million listeners.
Notably, Jennie has set a new record for female K-pop solo artist and is now the second-highest ranked K-pop artist on Spotify in terms of monthly listeners, behind only Jungkook (36.81 million monthly listeners).
Jennie has achieved these numbers without releasing any solo albums, with only 3 songs credited as "Solo", "You & Me" and "One of The Girls".
Additionally, Jennie is making a significant mark as a solo artist as she becomes "the first K-pop female solo artist to reach 1.1 billion streams across all accounts without releasing a solo album."
Last December, YG Entertainment released an official statement, confirming that the members of the popular group BLACKPINK did not renew their individual contracts.
Accordingly, YG Entertainment is only responsible for managing and promoting BLACKPINK's activities, and each member's individual activities will not be related to the famous Korean entertainment group.
YG Entertainment's statement read, "Some time ago, YG Entertainment renewed BLACKPINK's promotion contract as a group. We have come to an agreement not to sign individual promotion contracts for members.
YG Entertainment promises to support BLACKPINK's group activities with all available resources, while encouraging the members' individual activities with warm hearts."
Jennie was the first member of BLACKPINK to announce her individual activity. Accordingly, the 9X generation star established his own company, actively managing personal art activities. Her decision was met with support and worries from fans.
While on The Seasons â Lee Hyori's Red Carpet, Jennie opened up about her bold decision.

Also on the sho.w, she explained the choice of ODD ATELIER as the company name: "It implies that I will do well even though my path is alien and different from others. Please support me a lo.t in the future."
In addition, Jennie affirmed that starting her own company does not mean that she is at odds with YG Entertainment. The beautiful singer said that she and the other 3 members of BLACKPINK all agreed to renew their group contracts with YG Entertainment and this is the best proof that they have no conflict with the agency.
