After 5 days of searching, the b.oy born in 2018 was found by a local about 20km from the missing location. Immediately after, he was taken to the medical station for care and health monitoring.
On the afternoon of August 21, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duy Thinh, Chief of Van Yen District Police (Yen Bai) said that after many efforts to search, at around 11:00 a.m. on August 21, Mr. Ly Van Lang, residing in Khe Bo village, Lang Thip commune, Van Yen district, while going to the forest, discovered a b.oy living in a hut in the forest. Mr. Lang called the commune police and brought the b.oy home.
"I just went directly to the scene, after initial examination, the b.oy's health is stable. This is truly a miracle of survival after 5 days and 4 nights for the c.hild," Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duy Thinh shared.
It is known that L was found with wet clothes (due to heavy rain last night), in good health, with no major external factors. He was lost about 20km from his original location, through many high mountains and cinnamon forests. Initial determination was that he only drank stream water and ate wild fruits and vegetables that he found himself.
This is a rare case, a 6-year-old b.oy, Dao ethnic, survived alone in the forest for nearly 5 days in Yen Bai province, was found healthy.
Previously, at noon on August 17, D.VL (born in 2018), from Khay Dao village, Lam Giang commune, and his family went to celebrate the full moon of the 7th lunar month at a relative's house. In the afternoon of the same day, L and 8 friends stopped at the hill behind the house to use the restroom. However, when the family did not see him return home until late in the evening, they announced a search.
Upon receiving the information, the local authorities mobilized local forces and more than 130 people in the village to join the search for the c.hild. The forces split into many directions to search streams, ponds, on hills, and monitor through cameras along Provincial Road 164 to search for c.hild L.
The leader of Lam Giang commune also said that the locality has come up with many plans, divided into many search directions, extracted camera footage along the roads but still has not found any trace of the c.hild.
After this incident, it shows that survival skills are really important, not only children but also adults will really need survival skills. Why can a 6-year-old c.hild survive in the forest for 5 days and 4 nights?
Parents should teach their children knowledge and survival skills when lost in the forest so that they can survive in the worst situations: Children need to know that they will survive with all their "intelligence". An optimistic spirit will help children think more clearly, not feel confused and crazy in the face of deadlocks.
The second thing you need to learn to survive in the forest is to find a source of water. The human body can only withstand thirst for a maximum of 3 days because after that, dehydration will cause the organs to malfunction and decline in function. Therefore, finding a source of clean water is very important. Note that natural water sources often flow down from above, follow the tracks of animals or find water on dew drops that condense overnight...
Third, you need to find a safe shelter in the forest to avoid wild animals and rain and wind. If you cannot find a cave or abandoned house to take shelter, you can make your own shelter with leaves and dry branches to rest temporarily. The smaller the shelter, the warmer it will be and the more your body temperature will be maintained.
In addition, to survive in the forest, children need food. Children need to be taught the skills to distinguish food, only those types of grass, leaves, and fruits that are edible can be eaten because there are many types of extremely poisonous plants that can k.ill people quickly, especially those with bright colors that easily attract children.
