On the afternoon of August 21, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duy Thinh, Chief of Van Yen District Police (Yen Bai) said that after many efforts to search, at around 11:00 a.m. on August 21, Mr. Ly Van Lang, residing in Khe Bo village, Lang Thip commune, Van Yen district, while going to the forest, discovered a boy living in a hut in the forest. Mr. Lang called the commune police and brought the boy home.

"I just went directly to the scene, after initial examination, the boy's health is stable. This is truly a miracle of survival after 5 days and 4 nights for the child," Lieutenant Colonel Pham Duy Thinh shared.

It is known that L was found with wet clothes (due to heavy rain last night), in good health, with no major external factors. He was lost about 20km from his original location, through many high mountains and cinnamon forests. Initial determination was that he only drank stream water and ate wild fruits and vegetables that he found himself.

This is a rare case, a 6-year-old boy, Dao ethnic, survived alone in the forest for nearly 5 days in Yen Bai province, was found healthy.

Previously, at noon on August 17, D.VL (born in 2018), from Khay Dao village, Lam Giang commune, and his family went to celebrate the full moon of the 7th lunar month at a relative's house. In the afternoon of the same day, L and 8 friends stopped at the hill behind the house to use the restroom. However, when the family did not see him return home until late in the evening, they announced a search.

Upon receiving the information, the local authorities mobilized local forces and more than 130 people in the village to join the search for the child. The forces split into many directions to search streams, ponds, on hills, and monitor through cameras along Provincial Road 164 to search for child L.

The leader of Lam Giang commune also said that the locality has come up with many plans, divided into many search directions, extracted camera footage along the roads but still has not found any trace of the child.
