A serious fire has just occurred in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City at dawn this morning (5/2), taking the lives of a mother and two small children while her husband was on a business trip.
The scene was strictly blocked
From the early morning of February 5, the area of alley 17 To Ky Street (Dong Hung Thuan Ward, District 12) – the section near Cho Cau Bridge – was completely blocked by functional forces. Ho Chi Minh City Police Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with professional units are urgently examining the scene, investigating and clarifying the cause of the terrible fire that killed 3 people in a family.
The development of the fire at midnight
According to initial information, the fire began to break out at more than 0:00 on February 5. The 2-storey house located deep in a small alley was suddenly covered by black smoke. In just a moment, the fierce fire spread, cutting off the escape route of the people inside.
Many surrounding residents when they discovered the fire shouted, mobilized mini fire extinguishers and on-site vehicles to extinguish the fire. However, because the house was located in a small alley and the fire was rising so quickly, initial rescue efforts were unsuccessful. The cry for help gradually died out in the thick smoke, making everyone shocked and helpless.
Rescue in vain
Receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (Fire Prevention and Rescue Department) of the Ho Chi Minh City Police. Ho Chi Minh City quickly dispatched many fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene. The fire brigade had to deploy a plan to extinguish the fire from many sides to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.
After trying to completely control the fire, police soldiers went inside to search for victims. Here, a heartbreaking scene appeared:
Ms. P.T.M.L (44 years old) and her daughter (14 years old) were found dead in the toilet area. It is likely that the victims ran here in hopes of avoiding the fire and finding a source of water but did not escape the smoke inhalation. The boy (6 years old) was found dead in the bedroom.
The pain of those who stay
Notably, at the time of the incident, the husband (father of the two children) was not at home because he was on a business trip. The bad news came suddenly, making relatives and neighbors sad at the scene of "family separation" overnight.
Currently, the functional forces are still trying to review the scene to determine the point of fire and the specific cause (suspected to be an electrical short or other objective impacts).
Fire safety precautions
This heartbreaking fire once again sounded the alarm about fire safety in residential areas, especially houses in small alleys: Check the electrical system: Always turn off unnecessary appliances before going to bed. Second escape route: Each house needs to have a backup emergency exit outside the main door (balconies, windows that are not too strongly fenced). Handling skills: When there is a fire, absolutely do not hide in the toilet because this is the most susceptible place to smoke and difficult to rescue.
The case is still being investigated and clarified by the police.
The heartbreaking fire on To Ky Street is not only a great loss for the victim's family but also a warning bell about fire safety in crowded residential areas. In the midst of the ashes, the image of the father rushing back in shock, losing both his wife and children, made anyone who witnessed it sad. Currently, the exact cause is still waiting for the conclusion from the investigating agency, but this tragedy once again reminds each of us to equip ourselves with escape skills and be careful with electrical appliances in our homes. A minute of neglect can lead to irreparable pain, leaving a vast void for those who stay.
