According to the latest information shared from Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training), the Ministry will not announce the illustrated exam for high school graduation as every year.
In the early days of February, when the spring atmosphere was still lingering, the school community received a "hot" news about the most important exam in a student's life. According to the latest sharing from Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Quality Management Department, this year's students can temporarily relieve the burden of unexpected changes. Accordingly, the structure, ratio and degree of differentiation of the 2026 high school graduation exam will be maintained stably, with no difference compared to the previous year.
One of the most notable information that has caused a stir in many student forums is the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training not to publish the illustrated exam questions. The reason given is that all technical elements of the exam are reserved intact as in 2025. This means that students can completely rest assured to use reference questions and old format structures as a "guideline" for their revision route without waiting for another new format.
Looking back at last year's exam picture, the exam question has created a clear differentiation with a "golden ratio" of 4:3:3 corresponding to the levels of awareness, understanding and application. Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Ha affirmed that this year this rate will still be maintained, and at the same time continue to promote practical questions and highly logical thinking. The exam questions will no longer be empty theoretical pages but will focus on assessing practical capacity, adhering to the spirit of the new general education program 2018.
Giving "golden" advice to candidates who are in the sprint stage, Prof. Ha emphasized that the focus of knowledge will be mainly in the 12th grade program. However, students need to change their learning mindset when they should not consider textbooks as the only source of materials. In the context of exam questions becoming more and more oriented towards life, just memorizing will no longer be an advantage. Instead, students need to practice the ability to relate the knowledge they have learned to practical phenomena to be able to handle open-ended questions well.
A notable difference in terms of time is that the 2026 high school graduation exam is expected to take place on June 11 and 12. Compared to the annual practice, this exam schedule has been pushed up about 2 weeks earlier, requiring schools and students to prepare more proactively and quickly. Candidates will participate in 4 subjects, of which 2 compulsory subjects are Math, Literature and can choose 2 subjects from the list of other subjects. In particular, this year's exam also recorded a new step in technology when the Ministry plans to test the test on computers for about 100,000 candidates in some areas.
Although Prof. Nguyen Ngoc Ha revealed about drastic changes in future exams, but in the immediate future, stability is the most important keyword for the 2026 exam season. By keeping the old format and focusing only on practical application, this is an opportunity for students with flexible thinking and careful preparation to shine. Now is the time for 2K8 students to "wind up", learn the basics and get ready for an exciting but challenging summer ahead.
