A friend of hers in the Journey to the West film crew shared: "In 1989, we went to Jilin with the Journey to the West crew. She invited us to her house for dinner. She looked really healthy, who would have thought that less than 4 years later, she would pass away."

The actress married her colleague Liu Xiliang, her co-star in the play Fire Mountain. When his wife passed away, the actor remained single to honor his wife.
