It is known that the victim was identified as Mr. DHD, born in 1982, residing in Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, driving a motorbike towards Long Dien district towards Vung Tau city. When running to the middle of the bridge, this person was suddenly crushed by a crane, both the car and the person were stuck, the man died on the spot.

According to a person present at the scene, at the time of the accident, the wind was very strong and many vehicles were moving back and forth on the bridge.

At the scene, underneath the bridge there were 2 barges carrying 2 crane trucks with cranes attached. One of the cranes had a broken rope, causing the crane to fall down the side of the bridge and crush pedestrians.

The incident caused Cua Lap bridge to be blocked in both directions. Authorities mobilized people and vehicles to the scene to investigate the cause and regulate traffic. Many curious people stopped to watch, causing traffic chaos here.

Receiving the news, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Le Ngoc Khanh and Mr. Tran Thuong Chi, Director of the Department of Transport of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, were present at the scene to direct the investigation units. It is known that this crane is being used by workers to construct package number 21 - building a new Cua Lap 2 Bridge and repairing and strengthening the old Cua Lap bridge, with Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company as the construction unit. This is a bidding package under the project of constructing, upgrading and expanding the coastal road of Vung Tau - Binh Thuan (DT 994) invested and started by the Transport Project Management Board of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. from mid-June 2023.

After the accident occurred, the construction unit reported the incident and coordinated with the authorities to identify the victim's identity and take care of the funeral according to regulations.
