The victim's name is UTP (SN 2003), a native of Lai Chau province, working as a nail technician near the scene.

The perpetrator was identified as Hoang Van Thanh (SN 1998), residing in Thai Nguyen City, working as a barber, the victim's ex-boyfriend. The initial cause of the case was identified by the authorities as emotional conflict.

Initially, Thanh confessed to committing the crime with P, 20 years old on Vuong Thua Vu Street last night of January 12. Thanh declares that he has had a romantic relationship with P from 2020 up to now. Thanh is a barber and P does eyelash extensions and nail polish on Vuong Thua Vu Street.

On January 12, Thanh asked P to go out, but the girl said she was busy because she had to work at the store. Asked about this young man, P said that it was his lover, so there was an argument with Thanh. Because he was so upset about P "emotionally cheating", Thanh had an intention to harm the girl.

At that time, he told P to wait a while and then come back. He bought a fruit knife and went back to find P. Meeting P again, Thanh pulled out a knife to attack the girl. The victim fell to the ground and was repeatedly attacked by the suspect. After committing the crime, Thanh dropped the knife at the scene, got on a motorbike and fled.

After committing the crime, Thanh went to an apartment complex in Long Bien district, Hanoi and parked his car here. During the run, he told a person at work about his behavior with the victim P. Thanh said he would also find a way to "leave". However, after 2 days of running away, the suspect surrendered and confessed to the victim P.

The commander of the Thanh Xuan District Police Criminal Police Team said that after the incident happened, he and the Criminal Police Department mobilized dozens of scouts to investigate and arrest the suspect. The functional forces had planned to round up Thanh when identifying this suspect in Long Bien district. Along with that, the authorities have continuously mobilized Thanh to surrender.
