Photos and videos record the scene of saving the boy at the beginning, revealing the mound with a "death" pit, the crater is about 60-70cm. This is the reason the boy fell into the concrete pillar 35m deep into the ground. But why is there this "death" hole at the construction site?

According to a worker involved in piling work at the construction site, his construction team carried out the driving of concrete pillars on both sides of Kenh Roc Sen bridge abutment. This work has been carried out by the construction team from November 2022, each abutment is built with 18 concrete pillars 35m long. On December 29, the last pillar on the right bank of the Roc Sen Canal (on the side of the grandson's concrete pillar) was completed.

Worker Doan Tuan Em, 33 years old, from Ca Mau, said that 18 concrete pillars were finished, and workers used soil to cover them. From the ground to the mouth of the concrete pillar is 2-3m thick. Therefore, according to Tuan Em and many other workers, they could not explain why there was a "death pit" that caused Nam to fall.

However, Mr. Tuan Em and Mr. Hoang Anh Viet - workers in the piling construction team - said that the soil cover on the concrete pillar may be eroded by vehicles moving back and forth, because of the time before When the accident happened, it didn't rain: "When the pile is finished driving, you have to cover it with soil, simply to protect yourself from falling in. An open pier can be caused by moving vehicles (each vehicles weighing over 60 tons) create vibrations", Tuan Em said.

Anh Viet further shared, when the team moved to the opposite riverbank to build piles, at this time workers and machinery gathered on the opposite bank. When driving the first pile, it happened that the grandson fell through the concrete pillar. According to the workers present at the scene who participated in saving Hao Nam, when the incident happened, the workers took a lunch break and prepared to eat. And before that, this group of children was reminded when sneaking into the construction site.

The above explanation is just one side from those present at the scene. Public opinion is still waiting for an answer from the functional sector about the responsibilities of the construction unit, project manager and supervisor of this work when a serious accident occurs.

Dong Thap province's functional departments are currently mobilizing many experts, equipment and machinery to rescue victims. In particular, since the Prime Minister's direction, many central ministries and branches have stepped in. However, all rescue efforts were unsuccessful.

Previously, as reported, around 11:30 a.m. on December 31, 2022, Thai Ly Hao Nam (10 years old) and three friends from the same neighborhood entered the Roc Sen bridge project located on provincial road 857, Phu Loi commune, Thanh Binh district. to pick up iron. Regarding the case of a boy falling into a concrete pillar 35m deep, it is expected that on January 9, after the cleaning stage, the rescue force will close two 1-2 m long wall pipes around the concrete pillar. Mr. Doan Tan Buu, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Province People's Committee, said that the rescue force has been working through the night for many days.
