Established in 1994 with the predecessor Ben Thanh Brewery, over 20 years, Tan Hiep Phat has become a large-scale beverage corporation in Vietnam.

The founder of THP Group - Mr. Tran Qui Thanh was born in 1953 in Ho Chi Minh City. His father is Mr. Tran Van Buoi - owner of Hiep Phat building material trading barn. From a young age, Mr. Thanh was sent to Taberd Saigon School, the most prestigious French-speaking school at that time, for the children of the rich.

A sudden event happened to the family when his mother died, his father had to send his son to an orphanage - quite far from Da Lat. Childhood with great events helped owner Tan Hiep Phat experience that: "If you want to survive, you must do well and must fight".

"The years of living in the orphanage have made me develop a character of not giving up, not giving up and doing everything right," Mr. Thanh once shared with the press.

Mr. Tran Qui Thanh then graduated from University of Science and Technology, majoring in mechanical engineering. Later, he received a Doctor of Business Administration from Southern California University (USA).

Originally from a mechanical engineer, Mr. Tran Qui Thanh turned to the food business with a job at Central Food. After that, he was appointed as director of Ben Thanh Gas & Beverage Factory of Southern Food. Also from here in 1994, Tan Hiep Phat Trading - Service Co., Ltd was established specializing in soft drinks, carbonated soft drinks, beer flavors.

In 2009, Tan Hiep Phat started to be an emerging name in the beverage market in Vietnam when launching herbal tea. In the book Competing with Giants written by author Tran Uyen Phuong (Daughter of Mr. Thanh) with two co-authors Jackie Horne (British journalist) and American economist John Kador are listed by Forbesbook. Published in 2018 revealed, Mr. Tran Qui Thanh once refused the $ 2.5 billion that Coca Cola offered to buy a controlling stake 7 years ago.

Mr. Thanh once shared the reason for refusing because the partner asked Tan Hiep Phat to only be allowed to expand its own market share in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and give up developing new products.

Not only in the field of beverages, owner Tan Hiep Phat and his 2 daughters have expanded their business into many other fields such as media, technology, debt trading, and most notably, real estate.

Before being prosecuted and detained, father and son Tran Qui Thanh and Tan Hiep Phat were entangled in many controversies related to their own products and business activities. In it, it is impossible not to mention the scandals when this businessman was called by Mrs. Phuong Hang on the livestream with Vy Oanh.

The first noise to mention is the case of "The case of the fly in the Number One bottle" that happened at the end of 2014 which made Tan Hiep Phat become a name that attracted great attention to the media.

At that time, Mr. Vo Van Minh (Tien Giang) discovered that there was a fly in the bottle of Number One Tan Hiep Phat. Mr. Minh exchanged and demanded 1 billion VND to keep the water bottle with the fly a secret. Tan Hiep Phat's side proposed to give Mr. Minh some artifacts, but he did not agree, and at the same time lowered the price to 600 million dong and then 500 million dong.

In January 2015, when Mr. Minh was receiving money from Tan Hiep Phat employee, he was caught by the police with evidence. Later, the People's Court of Tien Giang province sentenced defendant Vo Van Minh to 7 years in prison for the crime of property appropriation.

Previously, this business also had many questions about the product. For example, in March 2009, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (Bien Hoa, Dong Nai) discovered that Number One energy drink bottle was still covered with a straw inside.

Tan Hiep Phat's representative admitted that they were defective products, but when giving compensation to Ms. Ha, Tan Hiep Phat called the police to arrest her for blackmail. Because she had all the documents, the police released Ms. Ha.

Or at the end of 2010, Mr. Truong Ngoc Tuan (HCMC) also discovered 6 bottles of Number One Soya soy milk were cloudy with a white precipitate.

By June 2022, the public was agitated by the news that singer Vy Oanh had filed a lawsuit against Nguyen Phuong Hang. The cause comes from the controversy between his wife Dung Lo Voi and singer Vy Oanh from the end of May 2021.

At that time, the owner of Dai Nam livestream "accused" Vy Oanh of "swapping the concept" in order to hide the fact that she was a pair of giants, going to the US to surrogacy. The owner of Dai Nam said that Vy Oanh has a "dirty past that is easy to hide".

The businesswoman also confirmed that before getting married to her current husband, she used to be a concubine for an elderly man, even giving birth to a child for this man for 115 billion VND. The character of the case is rumored to be Mr. Tran Qui Thanh. Before the accusations, singer Vy Oanh denied and decided to bring the case to light by asking the authorities to get involved.

To prove her innocence, Vy Oanh talked directly with Mr. Specifically, the female singer published her message with the person who is believed to be the author of her surrogacy child.

In the message, Vy Oanh wrote: "Uncle Th, how are you. Recently, I don't understand why Phuong Hang has slandered that I have a surrogacy contract for you. "Uncle Th." then advised Vy Oanh to sue for justice. "It's not that people say it all the time, but people believe it's true. When we don't sue, it means we acknowledge it, but we have a mouth that can't speak. Poor child, growing up confused when being bullied by society. condemn without knowing what is right or wrong."

Receiving the support of "boss Th.", singer Vy Oanh was happy and promised to sue to the end to keep her reputation. Currently, after Mr. Tran Qui Thanh was arrested, Vy Oanh was repeatedly mentioned by the public. Previously, it was reported that the female singer was banned from leaving the country for investigation in the lawsuit filed by Phuong Hang. On her personal page, Vy Oanh also kept quiet and is now "missing" on social media for the past several weeks.
